After “encouraging” the 7 and 6 year old boys up the mountain from the base of 1300m to circa 1700m and back down we had lunch at Al Pignau (falcon). The highlight for me was the polenta and frico which is traditional in this part and one I’d grown up with even in faraway Oz. Probably the best polenta I can remember. Could have had another staple of cjalsons but had them the night before at my aunt’s but would recommend if you want regional food exposure. We whiled away hours with the kids loving the trike down the slope and ski ramp using inflatable tubes. The view, scenery, serenity and kids playing along with good hearty food and drink (ie. not pretentious) is a great way to really enjoy a forgotten region of Italy.
A great place to eat and relax. We had lunch a few times here during our summer holiday. Perfect service!!
This restaurant is located on the Monte Zoncolan right next to the chair lift. In summer it offers an amazing view over the mountains and when the sunshine it 's just a pleasure to enjoy their terrace. The location is a chalet or baita decorated with taste following the alpine chalet architecture. When you walk in you can see a blackboard with the menu proposal of the day what does not change are the specialty of the area , polenta e frico and Cjalsons the rest is always updated. We had 3 polenta e frico and one polpetone. Everything was tasting good , the quality of the products was there and the freshness also , you could taste it. To finish we had the artigianale Ice cream which was fantastic , all this at a very reasonable price for the location/food. The only negative point was their service. When we first walked in , none came to us to ask us if we had a booking or whatsoever , the lady that came with the menu was so fast that we could not even remember the first plate she said, every time we were asking something it look like we were annoying her, there was only one waitress serving an almost full terrace and none brought us the bill at then end. I guess there is some points to review on that. Overall it was a great culinary experience in a relaxed atmosphere , I will come back when I will be back in the zone

We stopped after the ski and settled in because on the terrace all the tables were occupied. after a quarter of an hour, no one came. I saw a table outside we sat in the sun, but even here for at least 10 minutes nobody saw. a maid ocivas and returned from the doors without looking at the tables. we saw that at a table they were asking orders and we managed to draw attention to getting the menu. the dishes offered are few but valid, the menu changes. in 2 we chose the soup and barley. the soup with 5 cereals was rich in legumes and tasty, also excellent barley with the radicchio trevisano and speck, perhaps knew little radicchio. with the bread they brought the cheese sachets grated big moravia, a national imitation of wheat produced for some time in Czech republic from an Italian company: this is the first time I was in the country of the pramigiano and the padova. dividing a beer mouthpiece we spent 21 euros, paying by credit card. the costs covered 1,5 euro per tablecloth of paper and bread. value for money and good and kind service even if neglected.
