Walia Ibex - Sunshine West

This is the real deal Ethiopian cuisine.When you visit this restaurant it is best to leave your western culture inhibitions at the front door and just delve straight in.It's Ethiopian, decor and all.The waitress was very friendly and quiet knowledgable on the menu, which helped me considerably.There are no knives and forks or the usual condiments present on the table when you sit down.You use your hands.When the food rocks up...just dig in and enjoy.The menu is quiet extensive and caters for the vegetarians, vegans and carnivores.I had the uncomfortable situation where I was stumped on what to order, for the menu had so many interesting dishes. I just simply did not know what to order, there were just too many choices.The dish I had ordered was a mild spicy dish made up of lamb and vegetables.It arrived on a huge stainless steel plate on top of a huge thin type of Ethiopian bread.My mission, was to tear pieces of the bread off with my hand to gather the food.This may seem simple enough, but it isn't easy as I though and it took a few bites to get use to this new method of eating, which I must say, was quiet liberating.The dish was very good and very filling as I could not finish all the meal.I'll be back, I want to some more different meals..

Came here for dinner when I was in town for business with a friendIt's like Rockport's version of The Boiling Crab.

Came here to eat and while waiting for some friends in the parking lot I decided to read some reviews, after that we leftWe never set foot inside.

Walked in and there was something beautiful smoking in the front dining area, it was lovely. The waitress was so nice and friendly. I order the Ibex Special 1 which had a 3 dishes, a mixed greens dish with warmed spiced butter, homemade cheese and kitfo served rare. The cheese was lovely and crumbly and a little bit salty, the greens were well seasoned and salty as well but the saltiness really worked and the kitfo was so tender and flavoursome I couldn't stop eating it. It only cost me $15 as well! It was one of the most filling lunches I've ever had and also one of the most affordable as well. Cannot fault it in any way. I will definitely be back before I move.
