The carvery is praised for its variety, friendly staff, and family-friendly environment. The prices are considered reasonable, especially with vouchers or deals. Meat quality and consistency are mentioned as points of concern. Overall, the Toby Carvery in Cleadon offers a village pub feel with a decent carvery option, ideal for families looking for a hearty meal.
I recently visited Toby Carvery, also known as The Britannia, in Cleadon Village. The carvery was delicious with a variety of options, including vegetarian and vegan dishes. It was great value for money and I highly recommend it. The Tuesday quiz night was also enjoyable and difficult to cheat on, making for a fun experience. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
During a recent trip to South Shields, my husband and I chose to have breakfast at Britannia Cleadon Village. Despite being a Toby Carvery, we were disappointed with the inconsistent quality of the food. We had to search through numerous plates to find a clean one, the bacon was undercooked, and the hash was a mixture of burnt bacon and potatoes without cheese or onion. Additionally, there was no jam or marmalade available. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and we do not plan on returning.
This morning, I had breakfast at Toby Carvery. The food was delicious, especially the sausages and the homemade hash browns. The staff were friendly and easy to approach. I have visited their carvery before and enjoyed it. Toby Carvery offers great value for the price and I would definitely recommend it.
I'd give Toby Cleadon out of There's plenty to say about this Toby Carvery, we eat here fairly often, more so as the weather takes a colder turn Food: Very good, seasonal veg, bit inconsistent with what veg is actually available. Also meat is quite fatty (however may just be personal preference as I like my meat v. Lean Price: Very good prices, value for money, more so Monday to Saturday, and when you can make use of Vouchers or Deals. Can feed a family of with ease Feel: Genuinely feels like a village pub/Carvery even though you know it's part of the biggest chain in the UK, they keep the balance just right Staff: Absolutely brilliant, all seem to go out of their way for everyone. Which isn't always the case for most eateries. Especially not large chains Overall: Fantastic selection, great food, decent drinks, feels like a nice village pub that sells a very nice carvery, ideal for families Edit: The chefs are massively under-praised for the work they put in behind those doors, the food is spot on and consistent
We have been too this Toby, for a Carvery times in years and once for Breakfast. I can honestly say, we stopped going here because the food was always either overcooked or undercooked, substandard. We had roast potatoes looked great on the outside but raw in the middle, Cabbages, Cauliflower in sauce, that were watery and overcooked. We stopped going their, after giving them so many second chances. The Breakfast was horrendous, everything was cooked to within an inch of its life. Sausages, Bacon, eggs all over done, or were reheated from the day before. On Tuesday after months we were passing, thought we would see if it had changed, NO it hadn't, veg were Ok. Yorkshire puddings, were so dry they crumpled to dust, almost, tasted like they'd been fried in Vegetable oil, NOT traditional dripping. The meat portions were measly at best, half a slice of see through Turkey and Beef, literally the smallest portions ever. The stuffing was hard outside, uncooked inside. Not impressed at all, there were only around people in the restaurant. The service staff were very polite and helpful. Unfortunately I really will not be attending this Toby Carvery again, it's been a disgrace, a complete waste of money.
