The tablecloth was dirty, threadbare, with holes and tears in it. Place mats had congealed food on them. Sugar basins had grime all round edges. The ledges on the wall woodwork were thick with grease and dirt. It really needs a good deep clean. And this is the public area; heaven knows what it is like behind the counter and in the kitchen. This small cafe restaurant may be a bit difficult to find on Google Maps, but it's definitely worth the search. The decor is simple, but the service is excellent. The waiter, with his white hair and sharp dressing, was even more attentive than the owner. The roast beef was delicious and only cost 4.75 pounds.
