What Sean Little doesn't like about The Card Table:
I don't feel like this place is going to be around much longer, sadly. It's a good-looking bar, but it was empty on a Friday night. That's not a good sign for anyplace in Wisconsin. The cheese curds were good, but they were clearly taken out of the fryer too early, and they were soft and gummy instead of having a crisp exterior and chewy center. The fish fry, likewise, was pulled early. The breading was soft and gumm... View all feedback.
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant, as it made me very ill, resulting in both diarrhea and nausea. The food was the least appetizing I've ever encountered. It was excessively greasy—much more than it should have been!
This new restaurant, nestled right in front of the Sun Prairie ice rink, is a fantastic place to have some fun! They serve a wide selection of burgers and pizzas, along with some delightful surprises like buffalo cauliflower wings. Plus, there's a bar on the premises. The service is exceptionally quick, and the food is tasty. Make sure to pay a visit—it's locally owned!
I'm concerned that this restaurant may not last much longer. Although the bar looks nice, it was completely empty on a Friday night, which is not a good sign for any place in Wisconsin. The cheese curds were passable, but they were clearly taken out of the fryer too soon, resulting in a soft and gummy texture instead of the expected crispiness on the outside and chewiness on the inside. Similarly, the fish fry was undercooked. The breading was soggy, and the fish was not just moist—it was actually wet. This suggests it wasn't fried long enough to remove the excess moisture from freezing. My daughter ordered the bacon cheeseburger, which was, at best, an average burger. It featured a frozen patty from Sysco on a mass-produced bun, topped with a couple of small bacon pieces and a slice of processed cheese. There was no effort made to make it unique or memorable. I always try to support local businesses, but unfortunately, this one fell short.
I'm worried this place might not last much longer. It has a nice atmosphere, but it was empty on a Friday night, which is never a good sign for any establishment in Wisconsin. The cheese curds were okay, but they seemed to come out of the fryer too early; they were soft and gummy instead of having that crispy outside and chewy inside we all love. The fish fry also fell short, as the breading was mushy and the fish was wet—not just moist, but completely soggy. This suggests it didn't cook long enough to get rid of the moisture from being frozen. While I want to support local businesses, this one just isn't up to par.
I had lunch at Cardinal Cup today, and it was quite enjoyable. The food was delicious and served quickly. Despite the restaurant being busy and dealing with an employee calling in sick, the service was still impressive.
