I went to Taj Bistro restaurant all the way from Toronto to Sudbury, all I can say is The food I ordered (Naan, Paneer bhurji, Malai Kofta, Handi Biriyani) was The best if I compare with all other Indian restaurants from GTA. Best Handi biriyani (Authentic taste from Indian spices); Naans were amazing. Must try this place if you are a foodie traveller and conscious about Authenticity, flavour and Ambience. The price i... What User doesn't like about Taj Bistro:
We had heard good things about this restaurant. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The atmosphere was great; very clean and good service. However, the food left a lot to be desired. We had the buffet. The chicken didn't taste very fresh and the variety was lacking. That said, options for Indian food in Northern Ontario are limited, so if you have a serious craving, this place my suffice. View all feedback.
We where visiting from Toronto for a weeks vacation and we were carving some Indian foodWe came across this place and it was surprising delish.
We love Indian food and this restaurant was located in the Best Western Hotel where we were staying in downtown Sudbury so it seemed like a logical place to have dinner. Unfortunately, we left without ordering and after the manager refused our request to speak to him. I tried to order the non-vegetable platter, which I see is currently listed on their online menu under all-day lunch. The waiter insisted it was for takeout only. Yes, they had all the dishes on the menu separately. Yes, they even had all the dishes on their buffet, which I could have ordered except several dishes looked like they had been sitting out for a while and the lettuce salad was mostly brown. We went around and around for some time. Could I order the dish as a takeout and then walk it back inside and sit with my husband who ordered something else? Apparently. They just wouldn 't serve a dish on their menu to me because in their minds it was for takeout only. We asked to speak to the manager but were told he would not come out of the kitchen. So we left, And spent our money someplace else.
The place was open but we had to get our own food from a counter, and it was served on paper plates with plastic spoons. We had to beg for knives and forks. They would not give us water, expecting us to buy it. We ordered mild dumplings (malai kofta), but what we got was so hot that even those of us who liked hot food couldn't eat it. They did replace the dumplings, but they were still lumpy. Overall, nota good meal. The washrooms were difficult to access.
Great tasting food, nice dining room, courteous and efficient staff (all staff speak various Indian languages). Very clean and proper, modern well-maintained. The restaurant is located in the Best Western Downtown hotel. Take-out food is available.
We ordered online as in-house dining was either restricted or not there at all. The food was ready on time. We ordered simple vegetarian food but enjoyed it thoroughly., The daal and bharta were traditionally cooked, and well priced. We would surely like to come back during better times and have a sit down dinner.
