Catch Cook - Struis Bay
Catch Cook
Description
Perched on the beach and known for generous seafood platters, mussels, pizza and lively drink specials, this casual spot delivers big flavors and warm hospitality — sometimes stellar — but results are inconsistent. Guests praise quick, friendly service, family-friendly beach seating and scenic boardwalk access, while others report slow or disorganized service, out-of-stock beers, dirty outdoor tables and plastic glassware. Expect seaside charm, variable execution, and good value when the kitchen and staff are on form.

Though this is a self service style restaurant, it is crucial to tell people where exactly to order different items. This is important because you cannot order all food items at the meals counter. Some food items need to be ordered at the pizza counter and some at the sushi counter. When you wait about 30 minutes to get to the front just to hear that you have to stand in a different line it is disappointing. Do you know what makes it more disappointing? When you go to the alleged line that you should be in, just to hear that the line does not exist because the sushi counter is closed. You hear from a staff member that it will open in about 20 mins. After 20 mins when you go back they say that they will open in another 30 minutes. Then you complain because everyone else already has food and you 're still waiting to order they allow you to order your poke bowl Just to return a few minutes later to tell you that the tuna is out of stock. The tuna... Which comes from the harbour... Which is 10 meters away from the establishment. (The clue is in the name: Harbour cafe). So you order a focaccia instead. Which then arrives and looks like the surface of the moon. It is literally dry pizza with about a collective 2 tablespoons of garlic on it and about 3 tablespoons of feta. That 's it. Garlic flavoured cardboard. Notice how there is not a big difference between my pizza and the box it is served in in the picture. As I waited to inform management of my poor experience another lady had EXACTLY the same issue. This lady informed me that when her son had a complaint a few days ago, the staff responded with but you 're back any way so clearly it can 't be that bad. Great location! Self-service.. good to note that you order and pay inside. There were different stations for the sushi, pizza, and other items on the menu. Keep it simple. Place your order and take some time to relax while taking in the views and enjoying atmosphere. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: R 100–150 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 5
