That was such a treat. My daughter and I have made afternoon tea (my gift from her) and it is hard to find words to capture our day. This picturesque Tea House will take you to a place like no other. She had the Lady Londonberry tea and I had a decaffeinated apple mix. Both were steep with perfect taste. We decided for lunch and had Scones(Decadent), Snowman soup and any salad. Unfortunately there was no place to dessert today. We are already planning our next visit for a high tea. The staff is incredibly friendly and answers all our questions. We bought some teas to go, but I wish they had an online gift shop. That could be addicted again. If you get the chance, you should really make a reservation and go.
I ordered gluten-free bread for four people. $16 extra for gluten-free bread was much too much given the size of the fingers sandwiches. It was perhaps a slice and half a bread per person. Otherwise, the tea party was amazing to go. Many foods that were very tasty, lovely party as I went to the fairy tea party and my granddaughter loved it. Would definitely do it again, but do not order gluten-free badly. Follow, Cona explained how the costs for the GF bread were derived, what I understood. Nevertheless, I thought that was a big deal, and I really would do it again.
Beautiful, cozy home with beautiful teas and small plates. I love this place.
I brought my two boys, 6 and 10. Wasn't sure if they would like it, but they loved it. They can't wait to go back. We were sat in the story book room. The menus were perfect for children. The meals were $10 but included their meal, a drink, and a dessert. So I didn't think it was a bad price. Everything had the cutest presentation. And the decorate your own cupcake was genius. They enjoyed everything. I've visited Miss Hickory's myself multiple times before but never with children. I'd bring them back in a heart beat. It's a great experience.
Reservations are a must. And you will likely have to park on the street but it is well worth it. The food is excellent and the ambiance is perfect for a tea room. My quiche was incredible and so filling I didn't have dessert but my friends had the special cake and the bread pudding and loved them both. There is a patio with umbrellas for outdoor seating. If you have a problem with stairs make that known when making your reservation because the stairs are a bit steep, typical of an old house. The tea was good and there were about 30+ flavors to choose from as well as cold drinks and coffee. No alcohol. Check the hours--we went on a Saturday and they closed at 3 pm. They didn't rush us out and in fact we were there til about 3:30 taking pictures and eating dessert. Great place for a special event--but don't expect one big table, you will be seated at smaller tables close to each other.
