We recently visited Impulse during the day and it is a lovely place to dine. The interior has quirky decor and there are many outdoor green areas, including a play area. The staff was incredibly friendly and the service at our table was prompt. Although the food selection is not extensive, the price for a three-course meal was reasonable and the quality of the food surpasses that of a chain pub. Our only complaint wa... View all feedback.
What Eve Marie Beasley doesn't like about The Fish At Wixford:
The food at this restaurant was excellent, but we were disappointed to discover that we had been overcharged when we went to pay. The staff explained that the tills had not been updated with the new menu prices, but this excuse didn't sit well with us, especially since it was already late afternoon. This experience has really put us off returning. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4 View all feedback.
Having not visited for some time after a rather disappointing meal a few years ago, we decided to visit following some great, recent reviews. The decor has been updated and is now a calm, airy venue with well spaced seating. The manager, Carl was incredibly friendly and helpful. But, most importantly the food was fantastic. I'm annoyed that none of our group took photo's now! We had a couple of the small bite plates as shared starters Scampi, Houlloumi, Crispy Cauliflower Tato Tots all were delicious (and the selection made it really hard to choose just 4 . The Fish and chips were fab with a really good sized piece of fish (you know, where it overhangs the plate! , a friend had the vegan burger which she thoroughly enjoyed, and the dirty fries were just fabulous. There is a smaller selection of desserts, but it is probably enough to choose from to be honest. Between us we had the Vanilla Poached pineapple with Coconut icecream and honey comb and the Eton mess not a crumb was left! I'd definitely urge anyone to give them a try. They're trying really hard to bring the place back to it's former glory and are doing a really good job. We'll definitely be going back and recommending to friends and family. The only reason for a 4 for atmosphere was because it was a quiet Thursday evening.
Called in with Friends on a Monday lunch time on the way back from Devon, not far off the a46 but in a nice rural location next to the river. A lovely outside area with plenty of tables . Although quiet it was a Monday lunchtime) it had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Service was spot on and the food I had the belly pork) was really well presented and very tasty. If your passing by, or looking for somewhere to eat out its well worth a visit!
Still a good 'local '. Haven 't eaten there yet since the change of owners.
A lovely location and as a first time visitor, the layout and the welcoming of staff felt very inviting. being a visit on the evening of 4th November 2023 with an 8pm booking reservation, the venue felt somewhat quiet but this could simply be due to the weekend of Guy Fawkes and numerous bonfire events. just wanted to thank Fay Mathias and her team for a lovely service, polite, professional. the car park could do with lighting as its challenging to see where your car is parked in the night and its completely pitch black which may be a potential hazard. the venue is dog friendly, the premises are clean and tidy. a minor issue but the corner table we had was nice but a little cold, I can only assume as this was next to an outer window facing the road and with an aged building and window frame, cold may be creeping in.
Very pleasant lady greeted us. I had the burger, it was ok. It came across as processed rather than handmade . And a bit rarer than I would have liked. Atmosphere bland and lacking decoration.
