The Krone has a fantastic atmosphere and excellent staff. Even though I didn't dine there, the food looked appetizing, hot, and well-presented. I meet my brother here a few times a month, and the beer is always good and reasonably priced. Overall, it's a large pub that is definitely worth a visit. View all feedback.

Had a fantastic meal here while on a short break in the area. The Thai curry was fantastic and bonus that it was both GF and Vegan. My halloumi burger was also fabulous and nice and filling too with great chips. Would come again!
Stopped here for the night in our motorhome in the car park. Had a meal on Saturday night there was an offer on 2 rumps steaks and a bottle of wine for £35. Bargain. Meals were excellent, I eat steak a lot and that rump was the best rump I’ve had. Always have fillet so was a bit undecided but as the offer was on and you would normally pay £20 to £30 for a bottle of wine I thought I’m not losing much if it’s tough. It was more like a very good sirloin steak absolutely perfectly cooked 1 medium and 1 medium rare. Beautiful peppercorn sauce with it aswell. Staff very friendly, great little pub 15 minutes walk away from the town centre. Can’t wait to go back again in the near future, highly recommend especially if you have a motorhome and stop over.
Good food but had a couple of issues. We just wanted to find a local pub. The crown came up. Instead of a one mile we travelled five miles, due to road Closures. We parked up, paid the parking fee, which should have been redeemed inside which the bar staff never reimbursed us. After a drink we wanted to eat. Ask if we could get a table. We were asked if we booked. I replied no as we were told we didn’t have by the young girl behind the bar. It wasn’t busy, so there were plenty of tables. Our food took ages. I had ordered gravy with my fish chips, which was really watery. After the meal I went to pay. The young girl looked at me and went to the other side of the bar. I waited patiently It was getting busy at the bar. The lady who showed us the table, called for help serve. The young girl went straight to the gentleman that had just arrived to get a another drink. But the other lady asked her to serve me. Reluctantly served me. The bill was £44.33. The watery peppercorn gravy cost £2.50. The Crown is a lovely pub, with good food. Staff just need to change their attitude.
It 's our local but they 're now ' at it '! Just checked a bill from an earlier meal drinks for £80 and a 10% service charge had been added! £8.00! And half of the bill was for drinks at £40 which my husband physically went up to the bar to order and HE brought to the table!! If I want to be pedantic, I should go back and request a £4.00 refund on 'the service ' we didn 't receive. But you know what....we won 't bother eating there again....and the drinks at a social club local to the pub are 35 45% cheaper so they will have our future business! Just Beware! Don 't set up a tab for drinks and maybe pay for your food ' at the bar '. It might be interesting if they try to add 10% at that point for getting staff to do what they are already paid to do and bring your plates to the table!! Not impressed!
