A delicious return. The premises are so interesting. Several rooms all with different atmosphere. Some very old and traditional and then another quite modern. It is now 7 years, we are used to visit this restaurant for celebrations of our wedding's day. We've never found better trout anywhere. And their fish soup is something you will remember for a life. Same as the selection of starters, all of them so tasty, you do not want to stop eating them. Particular rooms are decorated with love and decent style.Hidden in the rolling hills, quite far from highway, but each one minute spent on the way there will pay back by unforgettable experience. Don't wait and visit Kulmer Fish Restaurant.
The place is a bit hidden in the Haslau after the Feistritz valley, naturally beautiful and very romantic though. They mainly serve trout which they breed in their own pond, either as a whole fish or fillet prepared different styles. I recommend "Forelle im Ganzen gebraten" (deep-fried trout as a whole - don't be afraid, the staff will help you with filleting.) Go also for the fish soup or the mussels in ginger sauce as a starter - really excellent. With the fish they recommend a mixed salad with all types of tiny cut vegetables, all local ingrediences, freshly prepared, one of the best salads I ever had! The service is very caring. They also serve excellent Austrian wines (even by the glass) at moderate prices. Even if you are already well-stuffed after the meal, have a dessert. However, the Chef's special is not on the menu: pancakes with homemade apricot jam - breathtaking, they are melting on your tongue! The only disadvantage: they close the kitchen at 8pm.
A delicious return. The premises are so interesting. Several rooms all with different atmosphere. Some very old and traditional and then another quite modern. On the side a cellar tasting room carved out of the rock. Although a specialty fish restaurant , at the moment they are running a game menu. That's a seasonal thing. I had a delicious wild rabbit while the others had a blue poached trout and a fried filleted trout. Very generous portions The restaurant is personally run by the owners so you know the standards are high. The prices are very fair. They also have an amazingly successful fish business next door so you know the fish cannot be fresher or better smoked. It's their own source and production. Worth a detour if you are anywhere in the area
Lunch or Dinner at the Restaurant is really an experience and worth the long trip. The place is quite hidden, but you find signs on the way, just a bit after Birkfeld in a small valley!Wonderfull location really countryside! Absolutely nice service and also wonderful decoration inside the restaurant, but the best thing here is absolutely the Local Fish - Forelle!!The Menu is not too big, which i really like and they focus on the things they are really doing well.Absolutely a must are also the Starters, after you have to go for the Forelle (Whole fish or Filet) and keep also space for wonderful Dessert!Nice Winelist with good Austrian wines which fits perfect to these great dishes!A must visit if you are in Styria and even worth the trip from the capital Graz!Dont miss it!Thanks for wonderful time at this wonderfull Restaurant!
