WThe BarBQ is definitely good. They make a number of different dishes using the brisket. They also have some good sides. Their fried okra is a favorite! We play Trivia there every Thursday night and always eat! We have suffered thru 100 degree weather sitting under a big fan that doesn't work! Please get this fan repaired!!! View all feedback.
What Manuel Menendez doesn't like about True Texas Bbq:
They'll refuse you, service, and lie to you if it's 40 minutes before closing. Would've accepted we're no longer taking orders, but was told two different lies as to why they couldn't serve me. 1st was they were no longer taking orders, and then they served more people. 2nd was that they were out of what I wanted to order when I got there. Many great items! Their loaded baked potatoes are amazing!!
I live near here, and it is dangerous! Dangerously good, that is!! First, the people who work here are so nice. Second, the food is excellent. I love the turkey, sausage, and ribs. I also love the collard greens and Mac and cheese. They make it right. They also have crunchy ice. Third, it has a bar! It’s like the local pub. Fourth, they have music on weekend nights!! I love this place.
Love the wings tenders . Awesome live bands great bar BBQ is delicious ? check them out on wilderness oaks HEB BBQKid-friendliness: Outside patio play space with TVs outside live bands
I was hesitant on going to a BBQ restaurant at HEB. I expected grocery store quality food which is good but not like going to a 5 star restaurant. True Texas BBQ is amazing and most people will tell you it's some of the best bbq in Texas. Their smoked meats are done in house and to perfection. Lately I've been hooked on their fully loaded baked potatoes. If you haven't tried this place, you're missing out!
Service at the counter was acceptable. The ambiance was okay. They were out of a couple of meat items lean brisket and turkey, which was okay. I really wanted to try the collard greens side, which was okay, but nothing special. The other sides were okay as well, just nothing to write home about (brisket beans, mac and cheese, and fried okra). My main issue was with the portion sizes, especially the meat portions. My wife and I each ordered a one meat plate for $11.99 per plate. She ordered sausage and I ordered brisket. The sausage was a small link, and I received one slice of brisket. This might have been acceptable for a child's plate, but certainly not for an adult. The sides look larger than they really are as the bottom of the containers are inset about a centimeter above the bottom of the cup. We will not be back. I would recommend Rudy's, Bill Miller's, or Smokey Mo's over this any day. Pictures are attached.
