I have been frequenting Jacala's for some 20 years; that in itself will tell you what I think of the food. They have the basic Tex-Mex fare down pat and it is consistently good. Here you will find some of the best tasting enchiladas in town, and I have tried quite a few Mexican restaurants. View all feedback.
What Adam Ramirez doesn't like about Jacala Mexican:
Went with a reserved party. The wait staff took over an hour to take our order. We waited another hour for our food. We did not get refills on our drinks for over 45 minutes. When asked about our food, we were told that it was given to another table. No one came to apologize or update us on the status of our food. For those who did get their food, they described the rice as hard and were not impressed with the meal.... View all feedback.
I was expecting more. Beautiful restaurant, I really liked the setting. Our waiter was top notch, very attentive and informative. Enchiladas were bland. Unseasoned beef in plain corn tortilla with cheese and chili sauce. Rice and beans were ok. Best thing was the flan, very good. I'll be back to try other items on the menu.
Been coming here since I was a child. My favorite place in SA. I pray that everything is going good for you all and that we can have a reopening very soon. God bless! Need that 4A in my life.
This was one of the best Mexican food they have and especially the ? Margaritas the Rocks is good. Is sad the is no longer ? there anymore cause of the tragedy of fire the whole restaurant got burn. About like three weeks ago we had celebrated my mother in law Birthday ? . We sure gonna miss the Restaurant.
I am so sorry for the tragic fire. I hope you and all of the employees of this great San Antonio institution will be well and that God will provide. Of course we have great hopes that Jacala will soon return. Blessings and so many thank yous for your great food and friendly service over the years. Jacala has been such a part of our family since we started going there in 1978. Many blessings and comfort for y'all.
The funny thing is I haven't been to this restaurant in like 3 years. I live in Houston Texas but my cousin who lives in San Antonio took the wife and i there we and really loved it. Every time we have time to stop off and eat their San Antonio we do. I wish there was one in Houston there's nothing better than a traditional mom and pop Tex Mex restaurant. Anyway my buddy is going to San Antonio for a wedding today and I suggested that he and his wife stop by and I have a great early dinner. I can't wait to go back there and get some do that down good Mexican plate and a nice Frozen creamy margarita.
