We got Bubby's Jewish Soul Food today through an app. We enjoyed everything we got. We tried a dill lentil soup, cucumber salad, lots of different breads, and a chocolate chip sweet bread. One of my kids proclaimed he loved all of it. I loved all of it too! We would definitely love to go again and try more. The restaurant itself was clean and well maintained. View all feedback.
What J M doesn't like about Bubby's Jewish Soul Food:
The pricey corned beef sandwhich was realtively tasteless and fatty (not in a good way) with dense (almost mealy) rye bread. Not a repeat.I have never had chopped chicken liver with a sour aftertaste (e.g., like lemon or tangine) and never hope to again. The rugelach was good, but not at their high price. View all feedback.
My first trip to San Antonio was made perfect by this perfect restaurant. As someone who grew up in Brookline Massachusetts (Jewish capital of Boston) and then went to college in New York as well as many trips to Israel to see family, I have to say this food reminded me of my childhood and my love for my heritage. A pastrami on rye with a pleasant added bonus of an apple/red onion marmalade changed everything for me! Such an old world taste brought into the current atmosphere by this subtle yet striking addition was truly remarkable. The German potato salad had the perfect level of whole grain mustard seed to truly set it apart from others. Finally the rugelach was to die for and easily better than my family’s (don’t tell my bubby)! The service and cleanliness was exactly what you expect from this inclusive and unique home for my inner Jewish soul. Mazel to both of the owners!
This spot is an absolute Gem!! Best Jewish deli in the area hands down! Everything is so delicious and can tell it is made with love. It’s very hard to decide a favorite on the menu because everything was that good. The owner Jason is very personable and welcoming! ^ ^
The overall experience was great. The boys behind the counter were very friendly and supportive. We had a little bit of everything. Ruben. Hot Pastrami, Maza Ball Soup, Cabbage Roll and of course dessert. 1. Ruben lean and very good very traditional. I will order again. 2. Pastrami hot, but was a bit fatty. Little disappointed take a pass 3. Maza Ball very good. Hot and great size. Will order again. 4. Cabbage Roll interesting. Tasted fantastic. Moroccan sauce was amazing. Only problem was the cabbage. It was so thin I missed the cabbage roll. It was more like an amazing Hungarian meatball. I will Eder again. 5. Black White cookie so moist and not too sweet. Overall excellent cookie need more asap. Want to thank the team again. Just very happy and made the whole experience fantastic.
We went a couple of weeks ago after placing an order from too good to go. Food was amazing and I love that they try not to waste things. The guys working there were amazingly sweet and very welcoming, even though I arrived a few minutes before closing. We'll definitely be returning soon to try out more of the menu.
Absolutely amazing and incredibly nice people. I’m from New York and the bagels are the best bagels I’ve had by far in San Antonio! They give me a back home feeling. The cinnamon roll is also delicious! Not too sweet but the perfect amount of sweetness. I love Bubby’s!
