Place is really lovely, team is friendly, everything was great! The rooms are spotless and the views from our room were amazing. They had an iron, ironing board and hair dryer in our room, which was super useful since we were visiting to attend a wedding in the countryside. Food was alright rooms and service are the star here! Big bonus: seeing all the local dogs and owners gather at the pub in the evening! Rooms: 5 View all feedback.
What Willy Palka doesn't like about The Chilterns Fox:
Left with a sour taste I visited as part of a group, with a buffet meal included at what we were told was £30 per head. Upon arrival I bought a pint of beer and offered to pay for two meals and was charged £73.69, with an £8.19 service charge added to both the meal cost and beer. As I had not arranged this I thought perhaps this was an agreed price, not realising and not being told that the service charge was optiona... View all feedback.

Staff were not welcoming and repeated requests to increase the heating seemed to be treated as an inconvenience from customers who should have felt privileged to be there. Very disappointing and I will not be returning.
We arrived on the Friday for a weekend stay as we were going to a festival nearby. The Friday night/Saturday staff were friendly and helpful, but all weekend the staff had a feel of this is just a weekend job, we 'd rather be elsewhere but still being friendly and attentive when required. Then it went wrong the sink in our en suite was blocked, clearly not a new issue judging by the disgusting gunk brought up the plughole when we tried to clean out teeth on the Friday night. We reported it sat morning and we were quickly moved to a bigger suite. This was nice but, for a new building, the bathroom had a strange musty smell. On Friday night when we arrived we asked about breakfast and we were told it was served till 10am, but we 'd prefer you didn 't come down at 5 to . Sat breakfast was good. Sunday we turned up at 0940 to be told the kitchens had stopped cooking. We spoke to the chef/manager who said the kitchens stopped cooking at 0945. Then, presumably realising our disapproval, he offered to cook us something in a way that made us feel like he was doing us a favour (ie, he 'd shut down early and been caught out! . We declined and went back to our room to pack. On arriving back in our room I checked the time just approaching 0945. We 'll not be going back there for next year 's festival. Well find somewhere where we don 't feel like we 're an inconvenience to the staff, especially the manager (we 're still waiting for any kind of apology btw...
