What User doesn't like about The Lion Sports Grill:
I went for dinner with friends on 7/9/21. The food was delicious and the waitress was pleasant, but her superior was quite arrogant when we asked if the bill could be split. It was a quiet evening, but he refused to speak to us and responded rudely, a behavior that no restaurant should tolerate. The food, ambiance, and waitress all deserve a higher rating, but none of us had ever been insulted by a colleague before. View all feedback.

My husband and I, along with our two young grandchildren, arrived at this restaurant on a Saturday for lunch. We were pleased with the good selection of reasonably priced dishes with generous portions. I decided to try the chicken burrito, which came with a side salad that was delicious and very filling. I couldn't resist taking a few of my husband's homemade chips. We all left feeling satisfied and full, but a bit disappointed that we couldn't try a dessert because we were so full. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was nice with a few muted TVs in the background.
Admittedly we were a little late but I am a wheelchair user and it takes a bit of time to get me sorted by the time we arrived they had given our table to someone else. They knew about the wheelchair a I told them...when I booked. Not very disabled friendly. We left and went somewhere else, we won't be returning.
We were looking for a venue to celebrate our son's 21st birthday with family. We no longer live in Teesside but our families do and so we wanted somewhere local to them. Unfortunately, the website was down for maintenance and so we only had Tripadvisor...reviews to go by. Most of the reviews seemed to mention Parmos but my husband assured me that the menu was more varied than that. We weren't disappointed. We ordered steaks, chicken wraps, fish and chips, burgers, curry amongst other dishes. We didn't preorder but the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, all served at the same time, all piping hot and well presented. The staff were all very courteous and welcoming. We asked if it was OK to have the birthday cake as dessert and we were provided with a knife and serviettes. We had a lovely evening and everyone was complimenary about their meals and the venue. Thank you to the staff at the Lion. We will be back.
This used to be my go to place for the legendary chicken Parmo. Over the last few visits things have gone abit down hill. Here is an outline of the last visit. Ordered a drink and recieved it in a dirty glass, mentioned it to...the server only to recieve a smile. Ordered food and asked for a receipt but this seemed like too much like hard work. When ordering I expressed a food allergy cucumber, bit of an odd one but there you go). When the food turned up then offending article was dished up loud and proud on the top. I raised this to the server who just said oh and brought me another plate to scrape the salad onto. I wasnt too happy and even told the land lady who said when would speak to the cook but heard no more. Even though the chicken parmo was ok the brown soggy things you pay extra for are disgusting. Fat soaked chips that I think may be triple cooked but in my opinion if you cook them properly the first time they should be good enough. Try elsewhere first if you prefer something cleaner.
