Really impressed with afternoon tea here today, £12.50pp and so much to eat we brought half of it home. Our table was all set ready for our arrival complete with table cloth and napkins. The staff were very attentive but not overpowering and the quality of the food was good too. Definitely worth a visit if that’s you thing View all feedback.
What Orrengran doesn't like about Stockton Garden Centre:
I had to wait in a queue for over 10 minutes just to lay for a can of Diet Coke, service is very slow. A little disappointed when my disabled friend in a mobility scooter asked a member of staff could she possibly pick up her tray which had fallen to the floor she replied that she would do it later even though she was headed, empty handed to the kitchen. Lots of tables laden with dirty crockery, the staff need furthe... View all feedback.
Ridiculously overpriced food for the quality, despite going to restaurant when store opened on Sunday. Bacon (thick fat attached) and greasy, thank goodness for the over baked bread bun it came in. They really need to look into this. Long queues and very noisy.
Went for quick coffee and scones. Long wait for coffee batista to serve people. Place was busy, though still tables available. Was concerned that dogs were allowed in the restaurant, that were not guide or assistance dogs? They were controlled but felt strange.
Very helpful young man helped me choose bulbs for my garden. Also very cheerful lady on the till set up the reward card. Both were a credit to the store.
Adoring garden centre Beautiful flowers shrubs trees etc has a wonderful cafe with seating indoor outdoors staff are very helpful and polite. Well worth a visit and pas a couple of hours.
The garden centre itself is lovely. But I met a friend for lunch in the cafe, which wasn't! The food was poor quality and significantly overpriced. The poor elderly man ahead of me wanted chips not mash with his sausages. He was repeatedly told this was not possible as the meal came with mash. Despite his request then protestations, he was still not allowed chips. He pointed to the picture of sausage and chips and was told it was for advertising only. The food was portioned out in dishes about the size of 1.5 average android phones. This meant 3 sausages (in gravy), which they tip on the plate and add veg later. So this was wasted as the man refused it. The main small dishes were £10.95. Seeing this, we chose tuna mayo baked potato. Awful. Dry potato, overcooked, and the tuna only had mayo wafted over it (we used 8 sachets of mayo to make it edible). The coleslaw which came with it was bitter with mo mayo but a drizzle of dressing. It contained shrivelled green cabbage leaves not crunchy. Overpriced, inedible, disappointing, and the cake was as bad! It used to be ok. I paid £26 for 2 jacket potatoes with tuna mayo and 2 coffees. Never again.
