Contribute FeedbackThe Duke of Wellington restaurant and hotel has received mixed reviews from customers. Some have commented on the average quality of the food, with complaints about dishes being lukewarm, lacking in flavor, and overpriced. Others have praised the friendly staff and gluten-free options, as well as the lovely setting and views. While some guests have found the restaurant lacking in atmosphere and in need of improvement, others have enjoyed excellent meals with great service. Overall, the Duke of Wellington seems to have potential but may need to work on consistency and quality in order to please all diners.
The food was first class with an absolutely delicious Cheddar cheese and leek soufflé. Thus was followed by haddock and chunky chips with mushy peas…. outstanding.
Great family meal at The Duke of Wellington this evening. Always great food but sometimes service can be very slow. Not this time, service was excellent and contributed to a lovely evening. Never been disappointed with the food here, excellent choice and excellent quality. Great beer and a good choice of wines.
Beautiful pub/ hotel with a great view over the Tyne valley. We all enjoyed our meal too.
The service at this restaurant was excellent from start to finish. The waiter and waitress were very attentive and the food was delicious. I started with the goats cheese panacotta and then had the sea bream, both of which were fantastic. Unfortunately, I was too full to try dessert but I will definitely be returning to this restaurant.
Fantastic Sunday lunch, great value and super service
