The atmosphere was complimented for being family-friendly, but some customers felt the menu lacked creativity. Overall, the restaurant offers a decent dining experience, with friendly staff and reasonable prices, making it a good choice for a casual meal or a quick drink stop.

A nice country pub located alongside the Middlewood Way and close to the Macclesfield canal. The staff were very accommodating and did their very best to make sure we had a seat even though we didn't book. The Sunday roast was excellent and reasonably priced. I particularly liked the vegetables, which were crunchy without being undercooked. There is free carparking here, and you are welcome to leave your car while you go for a walk. There are small steps at the pubs main entrance, so those with disabilities may find it hard to access. As mentioned, both the Middlewood Way and the Macclesfield canal are situated within 5 minutes walks, so the pub is ideally located for walkers. The Boars Head is also dog friendly. Thus is a good place to come for a drink and a meal after a pleasant day's walk.
