Duvel Cafe - Stockholm

There was a bug in my plate. Answer from waiter « not cool ». No apologies, no discount, like this is usual. Don’t be surprised to find anything odd in your plate.

Booked a table via the web which was absolutely fine. Arrived with my party of four and not taken to the table but waved over. No greeting or smile from waiter. Little explanation of menu when ordering I asked about how the steak came and was told medium I asked for medium rare but not even acknowledged. Three states arrived and one was forgotten and waitress had to ask again what was missed. No apology. Mains served but rather than placing plate on table I was handed my plate across other diners in my party. Getting the bill was like retrieving blood from a stone. Only saving grace was the food was good. Overall a really disappointing experience and spoiled by surly bordering on rude staff. Come on.....get your staff and service sorted as the kitchen are doing a good job. I shall not be returning!

Nice decor but ordinary food and rude service. Our presence was barely acknowledged. It took forever to get service for drinks then food. Would not recommend this place.

I had a main of duck and potato, which was okay; fine dining portion sizes without the quality. My colleague had the poke bowl (the only vegetarian option) and left most of it. For dessert I had some apple strudel type thing with ice cream, which I ate about half of. The bill was about 1000 Kr for a main and dessert each and one glass of wine between us. I would try somewhere else next time.

This restaurant has a really nice ambience with a burning fireplace in the dining are. I had potato pancakes with Belgian beer to start, lobster with a dry white wine formain course and a creme bruleé with Irish coffee for dessert. Highly recommended!
