What Jolene W dislikes about Cascade Dining Room:
While Skamania Lodge is quite a charming place, I believe their restaurant could use significant improvement. Unfortunately, the food was simply terrible – there’s no other way to put it. The... View all feedback.
This is one of the most upscale holiday buffets you will find almost anywhere. Waking up to the spectacular Columbia River Gorge is a truly special experience. Skamania Lodge is a fantastic and welcoming place to stay. I can't praise the accommodations and staff enough, they truly make it a memorable stay. There are plenty of other attractions to explore in the area, so if you're nearby, make sure to stop by and see for yourself. Service: Dine in
I was looking forward to the Christmas Buffet after many years, but was disappointed with the experience. The food was barely warm, with uncooked root vegetables and flavorless dishes that needed salt and pepper. The dessert table offered store-bought pies, dry pecans, and chemical-tasting macaroons. The decorations were minimal and the overall experience was lacking in holiday spirit. The price was reasonable at $60, but I believe they should charge more to improve the quality of the food, hire more staff, and enhance the holiday atmosphere. The total bill for three of us came to $290, including wine, before tax and tip. Parking was difficult for disabled individuals as there was no valet service available. Overall, I believe there is room for improvement in various aspects of the buffet.
I had lunch at this restaurant and was impressed by the delicious fries and fish tacos. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was great for a casual meal. The price per person range was $10–20. I highly recommend trying the Rueben Sandwich or any of the sandwiches served with fries. Overall, I would give this restaurant a 5-star rating for both food and service.
I'll start with the good. The staff and service are amazing, and the restaurant is cute and cozy. But the food is not it. They're trying to do too much and are missing the mark. They paired a sweet huckleberry sauce with steak, and it was gross. It just didn't go together. There was also a weird sour sauce with the risotto and not enough rice in the dish. Also, $25 for TWO small sea scallops?! Ridiculous. The Brussels sprouts appetizer is amazing though!
The food was a total disappointment . I had the grilled chicken Caesar salad and the chicken was cold and the dressing tasted like mayonnaise, not Caesar dressing. Felt rushed as it was close to 2 pm when they closed. We reserved a window table but when we arrived they didn’t have a window table. With that said the manager was kind and made space for us at the window. Espresso machine was broken and could not make hot espresso but could only make cold espresso. Server was great. The galette was also horrible, too much dough and didn’t seem fresh. They charged a 3 percent surcharge. Been going here for years but won’t be back. Will start going to the restaurant next to Multnomah Falls.
