What User doesn't like about The Chequers:
One dinner came 10 minutes later than the others, and it was a salad! The chicken tasted burnt. There wasn't much lettuce or sauce. Very overpriced for what was on my plate. One meal came with mash and chips, after asking just for chips what a waste of food! The male waiter, whilst we have no complaint, seemed really out of his professional happy comfort zone. The staff was friendly, and the service was excellent. The food was delicious, and we had a wonderful time.
What a complete turnaround from my last visit! It feels like an entirely different place. I assume there are new people managing it now, but it's become a fabulous little country pub on the outskirts of Stevenage.
The wait for the main course was excessively long, taking over an hour, and the staff displayed a lack of professionalism.
