What Geirhjörtur Ymirs doesn't like about The Village Green Restaurant:
We were here for a buffet meal with family and found the food to be wholesome comfort food served up in traditional Mennonite style. Diner style seating, a good place to come for a meal after a round of golf or just a quick bite with a group. Fast, friendly service. View all feedback.
Although the building itself was beautiful, with a timberframe structure and large windows providing a nice view, we were disappointed by the lack of effort put into the food. The buffet did include apple crisp, but ice cream was only available for an additional $2. Additionally, my cousin had to send back a grilled cheese sandwich for her six-year-old because the cheese was not melted. Overall, we were unimpressed with the buffet offerings at this restaurant and can only give it two stars instead of one due to the nice ambiance. It's a shame that they don't put more effort into the quality of the food they serve.
It was my best friends birthday, we were dressed up nice so we thought we would go somewhere a little fancier.... mistake number 1! We got there and there was only 3 tables full and it should have beed the lunch time rush... this should have been an indicator of what was to come.We ordered our food and ordered pretty easy dishes. Poutine, turkey sandwich, grilled cheese and fries.Food arrived in a pretty timely fashion.. poutine was a big cold congealed lump of fries with cheddar cheese and non existent gravy.. showed waitress the invisible gravy.. she came back with a tiny tiny pot of more "gravy" we started to eat and while the grilled cheese and fries were hot, the poutine was stone cold. Waitress was getting a little frazzled and after some comments she took the food away to the kitchen.. minutes later the poutine came back on a different plate covered in a pale brown substance... my friend continued with her birthday meal.. she said this gravy is odd, i tried it and it was sweet and gloopy.. The turkey sandwich was for my toddler- the meat was watery and the bread was hard and stale. My fries were good, hot and crisp... a small child could have drowned in the grease from the grilled cheese.Upon talking to the waitress of the quality of our lunch she laughed, and handled herself totally unprofessionally she was out right rude! The best part was as we were leaving a dangerous driver sped up to the back of the establishment to deliver a big take out bag of mcdonalds to the kitchen staff.... if the kitchen staff prefer to eat at mcdonalds as apose to eating the delights from the kitchen.... that right there speaks for itself. We left here and went to donair to get real delicious food, cooked well and we were treated exceptionally well from the staff at donair. Only when there is a change in ownership and staff at the green tree will i ever return.Should have gone to donair first!

A perfect place to stop for a nice meal and friendly staff. Offers a variety of foods for all to enjoy.
Poor service, small buffet choices no gluten free, no coffee refills we had to ask, just felt paid a lot for poor quality food
