I am going to give this 5 stars because it was a very nice surprise staying here. I did not know what to expect. The hotel is quirky but very nicely appointed. The rooms are very modern and nice. Great location near shops and restaurants in the historic downtown area. And I've noticed comments about the AC it was excellent almost too good (it got cold!! on a hot September day.For what you get this is a tremendous value in Staunton or anywhere.
Loved the history behind the hotel. The staff was great. The room was truly overpriced, but clean. The dining room was underwhelming, merely a narrow hallway with a 10 by 10 kitchen where they either sous vide or microwaved the meals. The 'chef ' did a good job with what he had to work with and the staff was lovely. Would I go back again? Only if I knew they had made some changes.
We enjoyed our two-nights at the Blackburn Inn. The buildings were rife with historical interest and nicely restored, our room was comfortable and private, and the staff were friendly and very helpful with all our requests. My partner's great uncle had been a resident when the inn was a mental hospital, so that personal detail added special touch to our stay (and an appreciation for an easy check-out! .
My husband whisked me away to stay at this beautiful hotel for my birthday. We didn’t realize the history of this place until after we booked the room, that made it even more exciting! Driving up to the hotel, you can easily tell the property is beautiful even with some of the abandoned buildings. Check in was quite easy and our room was beautiful. He had flowers added on to our stay along with some very delicious chocolate covered strawberries. We unfortunately weren’t able to use the spa this go around, but have made a promise to come back one day and use it! We will most definitely be back!!
It is an older hotel, so it does show its age. The first floor was musty in the hallway, but the rooms were nice. The bathroom was very nice the restaurant was closed, except for breakfast which was pricey.
