This place probably has the best pizza in Lake Tahoe. Absolutely delicious. So good I wish I had a slice right now. I took a half of pie back to the hotel and even the cold pizza later that night was good!! View all feedback.
What Tangible H doesn't like about Montbleu Buffet:
Came here on a Friday evening and immediately was met with rude and rushed customer service. The lady at the front counter, and I believe others have commented on her as well, was rude, abrupt and practically refused to give us more than one menu. She threw the menus down, actually seemed irritated that we came in to order. I was repulsed! We are just here to order food, and we were actually ordering it to go...no si... View all feedback.
Pros: beef brisket was very juicy and delicious. Cole slaw too. Desert station was also yummy. Price was fair $24. Cons: as in most of these buffets, most foods were a bit dry/not looking very fresh. Overall: fair deal, way better cost/benefit than Forest Buffet
My girlfriend and I were up in South Tahoe for some much needed R&R and wanted to drop into a local favorite, the buffet. Unsure of where to go, we asked some locals on the best casino buffets to check out and the Montbleu one supposedly stuck out. Who knows better than the locals on where to eat, so we decided to give it a try. There was a long line for the buffet but after about a 30 minute wait, we finally managed to score a table. All I have to say is, is that the recommendation couldn 't have been more wrong. The food at this buffet was gross, over-cooked, salt-licked ideas of what a good Vegas buffet is supposed to be. The Asian foods were the worst offenders with some dry, garbage sushi and gross Americanized Kung pao chicken ****. The comfort foods were so salty and mushy that I just pushed it aside. Only the foods that they couldn 't possibly screw up like salad and baked potato were edible. Dessert was the only high point of the meal, and the cream puffs and chocolate dipped strawberries didn 't disappoint. But by the end of dinner, it was too late and the damage was done. Even at the affordable price of 12.95, this buffet is definitely worth skipping. Service was pretty much non-existent too and we walked out without as much as a thank you. If you have no tastebuds, I 'd still recommend you stay away. Try Harrah 's instead! Food: 1/10 Service: 1/10 Price: Atmosphere: 4/10
We had brunch here on a Sunday. They have the usual breakfast items and an omelet station. The omelet had several toppings to choose from with three eggs. I just wanted tomatoes, spinach and mushrooms. It was very good. The corn beef hash and hash browns are also delicious. I can't remember what we paid but I think it was a decent value.
Montbleu used to be Caesar 's Tahoe when it was built. It is one of the 3 big casino hotel towers at the Stateline the Nevada town at the California Nevada border on Lake Tahoe and where gambling is legal. I have eaten at the buffets of each of these 3 casino hotels and The Buffet at Montbleu comes in at last place, at just okay. Harrah 's Forest Buffet can make for a phenomenal experience, located on the 18th floor of Harrah 's, and the food has been good each and every time I 've eaten there. It 's my favorite buffet on Tahoe 's south shore. I 've been to Harvey 's once, combining helping myself to smaller lobsters and observing one particular Good Friday. It was a solid value and the food was very good, but I 've never been back. I 'd say Harvey 's was my next favorite buffet at the Stateline. I 've also been to Montbleu 's The Buffet only once, and that 's because the food was decent but also bordered on being forgettable. The price point was lower than that of the buffet at Harrah 's on the same day of the week and, like they say, you get what you pay for. Nothing was in the marginal range, but the selection wasn 't as vast as it could have been, none of the dishes called for a second trip to the buffet line (and I make second trips), and the service was sort of perfunctory. The restaurant is nice and comfortable inside, as is the general ambiance at Montbleu. In short, I remember that the buffet at Caesar 's Tahoe back in the day used to be quite good. I even commemorated it with a t shirt I bought a pale yellow one with a horizontal band of evergreens above a horizontal strip of lake water located toward the top of the shirt and with the words Caesar 's Tahoe (in the same font used for anything having to do with the Roman Empire) above these graphics and the words Where It Pays To Play beneath the graphics. Heck, I felt it paid to eat at Caesar 's Tahoe (buffet) and I wore that t shirt a lot. I wish I can say that it pays at eat at what is now Montbleu 's The Buffet, but I can 't. It barely tips into the A OK range. If staying at Tahoe for 3 or 4 days and you 're doing a tour of the big buffets, you might try it once and see what you think.
One of the worse buffets...close to the worst buffet ever visited. We should have gotten a clue when there was absolutely no line...we walked straight to the counter on Saturday evening. 2nd clue attempted to pay the cashier asks, you don 't want to see the food first? When we heard our total of $73+ for 3 people, my husband actually felt confident that we 've chosen the right buffet for the price. We were sadly mistaken when we walked in to an almost empty dining room on a Saturday night. The food was even sadder than some cheap Chinese buffet. All they had to offer were low quality, dry meat overcooked vegetables. More than half of the desserts were sugar free. The sundae station toppings were even sadder than the rest of the items. The only good experience from this encounter was our server being very attentive refilled drinks took our plates away without being prompted.
