Description

Nestled among historic venues in State College, this beloved restaurant pairs striking, romantic decor and lively street views with craft cocktails and adventurous dishes—duck ragu, fried oysters, pork belly and pan-seared walleye often shine. Bartenders impress, and private events with custom menus are a highlight. However, consistency can lag: slow service, occasional brusque staff, gummy gnocchi, a mediocre cheesesteak and skimpy salads have been noted. Popular and charming, it remains a memorable, sometimes flawed spot worth visiting.

Ignorant staff. let me have my drink at the table and snatched the can out of my hand and poured it out as i was waiting for the bathroom. took 45 minutes to get two egg rolls.

Plenty of people – probably the place is loved by everyone. I had a Caesar salad, it was not too good: only half a piece of a tomato and maybe one egg or less – mostly lettuce under not the best sauce. Gnocchi portion is quite small. Other than that, everything was great, the interior was beautiful, and the barmen was making pretty cocktails in front of our eyes.

This is an outstanding restaurant, truly one of the best places to eat. It’s part of a charming group of eateries that includes a dive bar and a basement venue, all sharing a single liquor license. This establishment is both fun to explore and steeped in history. The decor is striking, featuring romantic themes between famous actors depicted on the backs of chairs, wallpaper, and various other decorations. The food is exceptional— I tried the duck ragu, and it was absolutely delicious.

One of my favorite spots in State College! The food and drinks are consistently excellent. My go-to recommendations include the fried oysters, pork belly, fries, frog legs, live burger, and duck ragu. Today, I tried the pan-seared walleye with wasabi potatoes and oyster-spinach velouté gravy. The meal was absolutely perfect! There's no doubt I'll be returning.
