Upstairs At Tyler - Starkville

The fried catfish was delicious! The service was excellent! The ambience was also good! The framed spinach was also good!

Food was terrible and atmosphere was not good It was old and evil Very creepy and dark

We had a party of 13 this weekend at Restaurant Tyler and it went well. The highlights were the okra appetizer and the fresh fish of the day which was red snapper pan seared or blackened. We chose the pan seared. My son got the duck burger which we found the meat to be delicious but certainly didn't need a bun, was great as a stand-alone patty with the seasonings. The general consensus was that the main dishes were great but the sides were extremely over-salted. (And I am a salt lover! The only reason I'm downgrading a star is that, like many restaurants in the downtown area in older buildings, the acoustics are horrible so that the restaurant is SO LOUD that it's nearly impossible to enjoy the atmosphere while screaming and not being able to communicate. There are things they can do to reduce the noise for a more pleasant experience.

Nice spot to eat and chill. A decent enough atmosphere. Not too classy, but I'd give it a high casual mark. The food is good. Southern fair, a little Cajun to boot. I'm down with the BBQ okra apps. Shrimp and grits are delicious as. it's the usual entree I eat when I go. I have enjoyed the Delta Catfish. It's a treat as well.If you're in the area, it's worth a visit or two. You won't be disappointed.
