Contribute FeedbackTucked away near Stansted Airport, The Ash Pub offers a blend of charm and comfort, embodying a quintessential country pub atmosphere. While many commend the friendly staff and impressive, historical décor, opinions on the food quality vary. Some diners rave about delicious, well-prepared dishes like rib eye steak and hearty portions, while others criticize the inconsistency and oily preparation. The venue provides an appealing stop before flights, but patrons are advised to allow ample time for dessert orders. Overall, The Ash Pub presents an inviting option for travelers seeking a casual dining experience with a rustic flair.
The employees were friendly and welcoming, but the restaurant was very quiet since it was the Saturday between Christmas and New Year, so it lacked a bit of atmosphere and was only just warm enough. The food was simple but delicious, with a slightly limited menu due to the time of year. This was a convenient meeting spot for our family, so we would likely return as it was fairly good value.
It's wonderful to have a cozy, warm, family-owned pub so close to Stansted airport. It was a nice change from the cold and impersonal hotel we were staying at overnight. We will definitely be returning.
We managed to secure a last-minute reservation at this restaurant, which was convenient after a day out. We arrived at 5pm and promptly placed our drink orders with the waiter. Unfortunately, there was a 20-minute delay before our food order was taken and an additional 15-20 minute wait after finishing our starters for the plates to be cleared. Throughout our meal, we observed staff members standing around chatting, using their phones, and eating. The main course was satisfactory, but no one checked on us for sauces or more drinks; we had to go to the bar to get their attention. Overall, it was not a pleasant dining experience and we have no intention of returning in the near future.
The service at this restaurant was outstanding and the food was amazing. Even though the address on Google Maps may be misleading, simply dropping a pin next to the pub and getting directions from there is the best way to find it. It is definitely worth the drive.
Beautiful service, wonderful food. if they enter the address on cards, it takes them a very funny route, but if they fall a pencil next to the pub and get directions there, they will be in order! really worth the ride.
