Based on recommendations from other family membe... read more During our visit to Kent to see our daughter, we took a weekend trip to Wales to visit our son-in-law's sister. Based on recommendations from other family members, we opted to stay at The Bateman Arms. We were pleased with our choice as we had a great experience during our stay. Room 5 was spacious with three single beds, well-furnished, and impeccably clean. The only downside was the heating system, which turned off three times a day. If you plan on sleeping in past 8 am, be prepared for a chilly room. The highlight of our stay at The Bateman Arms was the restaurant. We were fortunate to enjoy two dinners there. The first night, we savored dishes such as crawfish/prawn salad, garlic mushrooms, veggie lasagna, and pan-fried duck breast with an orange and Drambuie sauce. My wife enjoyed her lasagna, while I found the duck to be the best I've ever tasted. On our second evening, we indulged in tagliatelle and pan-fried stuffed chicken. The standout dessert was the Eton Mess, which we had never tried before and found to be exceptional. Note that the kitchen serves meals from 6 pm to 9 pm, with different hours on Sunday.
