Visitors appreciate the friendly staff and quick service, particularly during busy lunch hours. While many patrons rave about the oatcakes and enjoyable outdoor seating, some have noted inconsistencies, including mismatched food descriptions and service lapses. The venue is well-received for celebratory events, boasting a beautiful view and attentive personnel. Despite occasional criticisms regarding certain dishes and policies, Lakeside Café remains a favored spot for those seeking a relaxing dining experience after a stroll in the gardens.
Despite being busy, we were seated promptly by the delightful Abbie, and our drinks were quickly delivered to us. The restaurant is situated near the lake and the staff is very friendly. We also received a discount with the Trentham pass and loyalty card. The oatcakes come highly recommended.
Lovely place for tea/coffee/hot chocolate after a long walk around the gardens. Good outdoor seating. Order in the cafe and then wait for drinks to be delivered to your table.
I went to this restaurant for dinner at 2pm today, as we don't consider it lunch since we are not from the South. The food and service were top-notch and I couldn't find any faults with it.
We used to come to this restaurant for coffee on weekends, but we have decided not to return. Every time we ask for a hot coffee, it always comes lukewarm. Additionally, the staff have a habit of touching the drinking area of the cup with their fingers and do not use a saucer or handle for mugs, which is unappetizing. During our most recent visit, we ordered ice cream and the server had one glove on while holding the cone with their bare hand. When I asked them to put on a glove for the hand holding the cone, they replied that they only ever use one glove. The glove they were wearing was covered in chocolate ice cream, which was dripping into the vanilla. It seems that the staff could benefit from more training in food hygiene and customer service.
First time we visited here and we will definitely be back. Waited for about a minute before we were greeted with a happy smiley face and taken to our table. We had some cheeky little banter with the waiter and were not disappointed with his recommendation off the menu. A very friendly atmosphere coupled with delightful refreshments. What more can you expect?
