Absolutely my favorite place to eat. I tried raw fish for the first time here about 1 year ago and now I'm hooked. The TUNA SPOON is to die for and Garry and I crave it. I love the shrimp fried rice (large portions) I end up taking 1/2 home for lunch the next day. Garry always tries something new. Writing this review already makes me want another tuna spoon. Will add photos on my next visit. View all feedback.
What AntiChris doesn't like about Umi Japanese Cuisine:
The business is nice, they're food just isn't very good. The chicken and pork Katsu is often overcooked and way too salty. Sushi doesn't taste very fresh, ramen is mid tier. View all feedback.
This is our local go to sushi spot. They have other options for non-sushi eaters. We usually get a sushi boat as I tend to prefer just straight salmon and tuna rather than the more complex rolls. This is usually more than enough for us. Decent sake options. Also, like everyone else says, get the tuna spoons (a piece of tuna with a jalapeño slice and a little bit of sauce on it served in several soup spoons). There is always parking. Service is excellent. We have gotten take out before on numerous occasions and the sushi holds up in transit.

I'm super disappointed with Umi the last 4 times I've ordered. I order the same thing every time (flying fish roe). My last 3 orders were through Uber and my order looks shaken up, messy, roe is all over the place and not on the rice like it's supposed to be. I end up losing more than I get to eat. I thought maybe it was the driver's shaking it around so this time I decided to pick it up myself and this is what I got. It's clear now the chef doesn't care and looks like it's thrown in the container. I've always ordered take out from this place and never had this problem a year ago. Makes me question if it's worth ordering from here anymore.
Had one of the SPCEIALS of the day, fried oysters. Got sick.
EDITED: Editing this review to say that the manager called me back the next day and was very apologetic and refunded me for my order. Very disappointed. In my opinion Umi has the best sushi around, but their customer service is HORRIBLE. If you do choose to place a take out order, CHECK IT BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE BUILDING. I placed a take out order in the restaurant but didn 't realize until I got home that I received shrimp tempura instead of chicken teriyaki. When I called to see what could be done, I was met with a very dismissive I can talk to my manager, but we don 't usually issue refunds . The manager was incredibly rude and refused a refund (despite me explaining that my husband doesn 't eat shrimp or gluten so I wouldn 't have ordered that). Eventually he issued me a credit on my account all was well. When I called back later to use the credit, the manager told me that he went back and checked the cameras and decided that I was in the wrong and was no longer issuing a credit. Absolutely horrible management and customer service.
