Love the soups and perch dinner most of all- but the chili and lasagna is great too. Great place to be served by very friendly staff, hearty breakfasts and Sunday brunch Buffet. Its not gourmet food but its simple and delicious- like homemade. Great location and parking. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sunset Cafe:
Service was ok and the staff were polite, but food is mediocre and the entire place could use a thorough cleaning. Cobwebs in the windows, dust on wood partitions separating the seating and the bathrooms are pretty disgusting. View all feedback.
I have always had good food here. The servers are so friendly. The prices are very reasonable and portions are good. Be kind- everyone is doing their best!
This was my first visit to this restaurant. We waited at the door for a while before being told to seat ourselves (they should remove the sign asking customers to wait). It took a long time for the waitress to come over, and it took 10 minutes to receive our drinks. The coffee was terrible. When our food arrived, the eggs were overcooked, the roasted potatoes were barely warm and lacked flavor, and the toast was oversaturated with butter. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. The bright yellow decor was off-putting, the tables were dirty, and the salt and pepper shakers were mismatched and dirty. The service was poor and the food was subpar, ruining what could have been a pleasant morning.
WARNING!!! The service was slow, despite one server trying their best. The food was served cold and the prices were expensive - $2.99 for coffee, $4.99 for a side of sausage, and $9.99 for the breakfast special. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
I grew up in the area and have been coming to this restaurant for years. I order my typical eggs Benedict, shredded hashbrowns and coffee. I bring my daughter with me and my husband. The staff are always friendly. Yes, sometimes it is busy or they may be short staffed but you need to be patient. Personally I wouldn't trade coming here for any other place, and I've been to every restaurant in st thomas. Thank you Sunset Cafe for the great memories and the small town local feel. Sincerely, Masscellea, Chad and Amara!
This restaurant opened a few months ago, but due to pandemic closures and lockdowns, we had not visited until recently. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. Initially, the menu prices seemed a bit high compared to other places, but we soon realized that each egg dish came with 3 eggs. I ordered the new Eggs Benedict dish, which was delicious with a flavorful hollandaise sauce and 3 perfectly poached eggs on an English Muffin with peameal bacon. The home fries were also delicious. The only downside for me was the large portion size, so I had to take some of it home to finish later. The good news is that it reheated well and made for a nice breakfast the next day.
