What User doesn't like about Doc Ford's Rum And Grille St Pete Pier:
The ambiance and space for casual dining in St. Petersburg are excellent. While I found the price-to-value ratio of the meal to be slightly high, the prime location definitely adds to the experience. I would recommend it to anyone in the area near the pier in St. Petersburg. If the weather is nice, be sure to sit outdoors! View all feedback.
Beautiful views and relaxing restaurant, but the food quality was a major miss. Had the snapper wrapped banana leaves. Very dry and overcooked. Sauce was gritty and not edible. Removed it but then found fish was coated in flour or something that was also removed, but even that didn’t help. It was only 5pm so wasn’t that the fish become overcooked from sitting too long after the main dinner hour.
Jennifer J, was awesome, as our waitress. Very attentive and personable. She was at our table often, refilling water, asking if we needed anything. My redfish paella was amazing, absolutely delicious. So much flavor. The fish was fresh. There was no skimping on the portion size. I took half home with me. My dish was brought to the table piping hot. Yes, I would eat there again. My only problem was the noise level. It was loud, loud, loud. However, food and service were top notch. Everyone one was friendly. I’ve already recommended to a few people.
The service wAs excellent. The food was kind of bland. It was noisy . Overall experience was just ok
Very nice atmosphere. Great service. Between the two of us, we ordered the Yucatan Shrimp and custed grouper. Grouper was excellent. We know the Yucatan shrimp was peel-it-yourself at the table. What we didn't know is that shrimp is served in the Yucatan sauce which makes the shrimp slippery and the peeling part rater messy and difficult. Good taste, would recommend getting shrimp on the side (not in the sauce) and then use the sauce as a dip. Not really a problem that Doc Ford created, just something we hadn't considered when ordering.
Our server was outstanding. While the prices were on the higher side, everything was perfect, so I should probably focus on appreciating the wonderful food, ambiance, and service. This place is fantastic!
