Contribute FeedbackThe reviews for this Japanese restaurant in Melbourne are mixed. Some diners found the sashimi to be good but overpriced, while others were disappointed with the dry yakitori and poor quality of dishes. The service received mixed reviews, with some customers experiencing mistakes in their orders and slow service, while others found the staff to be polite and attentive. However, the restaurant's location and ambiance were praised by many patrons. The menu was described as interesting and the food was generally enjoyed, with dishes such as chicken ribs and gyoza receiving high marks. Prices were mentioned as being on the higher side, but some diners felt that the quality of the food justified the cost. Overall, opinions were divided, with some customers planning to return for more, and others vowing to never visit again.
I carefully ordered my husbands and my meals to ensure that our starters arrived together followed by our mains also together. Despite this, the two main courses( my husbands tempura prawns and my sashimi) arrived more than 30 minutes apart by the time my sashimi arrived (we had twice enquired about whether it was arriving soon)and my husbands meal was finished. Obviously this spoiled our enjoyment of our night out at your restaurant I didn’t enjoy waiting waiting until my husbands meal was cleared until mine arrived. I very much appreciated our waitress’ efforts to retrieve our enjoyment of our night and, and my complaint is not about the cost of our meal but the lack of effort to serve the courses as we had requested. We live in St Kilda now and I have been looking forward to many more meals at Ichi Ni, and I would appreciate your assurance that our polite requests would be honoured in the future. Kind regards Penelope McBain
The sashimi is good, but very expensive. The yakitori was extremely dry and bland. One of the chicken skewers came out raw but the staff were very apologetic and replaced it promptly. I think there are better quality, better value Japanese restaurants in Melbourne.
Excellent service from our waiter and the food was very delicious (tempura prawns, prawn with mayo, karaage, and sushi). Superb! Our only complaint I changed the booking from 2 to 3 pax (which was confirmed) but when our 3rd guest arrived, we realised the table had only been set for two people so she had to go and get her own plate. It was a very busy night so service was a bit slow but our waiter did very well attending to everyone. Overall very happy with dinner.
Our dining experience was beautiful as it always is at Ichi Ni
Waitress forgot to come back and get our second round of drink order after we asked and then cleared the table and offered us the bill
