Japanese rice sandwiches have never crossed my mind before. But they are very tasteful, because they are fully cooked. And NO, these are not Sushi Sandwiches as some people might identify them. My favorite was the Godzilla sandwich: fried tofu with beef. A litt but spicy, but just right for me. The new Lunch Set also looked very nice. The soup smelled so good. And the cakes are freshly made. I like it a lot and recommend it as THE next Japanese Sandwich Joint!
While you wait, the staff eagerly explains everything there is to know about sandoichi (which are pretty much equivalent to the Japanese onigirazu). As a vegan, you have two main options: The Hijiki, filled with brown algae and the Papuro, filled with red cabbage. Then you have to pick your sauce: Teriyaki, vegan Wasabi Mayo or Spicy Miso. I went with their recommendations Hijiki/Teriyaki and Papuro/Wasabi. The ingredients tasted very fresh, vegetables very crispy. I could have used more sauce, but dipping in soy sauce was also acceptable. I preferred the Hijiki, but overall it’s probably a good idea to go with a friend so you can both have a half of each. I also liked that their to go packaging is plastic free.
