Called in on a Saturday morning just as they opened. Seated by the window. Great friendly service and surroundings. We had two sausage with mushrooms in the roll, these were delicious and tasty. The roll was very nice crisp outside but nice and soft inside. The teas were nice with a good selection, we had a breakfast and Assam tea. My only fault would be the poor quality tomato ketchup in those horrible sachets. The... View all feedback.
What ServicesConsultant doesn't like about The Place To Eat:
This was not our choice. Our friends wanted to meet here for lunch. I've seen that Glasswell's has received some reasonable reviews and I frankly don't understand how they managed to get anything more than even a two star rating. We arrived and had to... View all feedback.
Small bowls of soup, slices of cake were not large by any means. I had a slice of cheesecake and was charged £6 for a small slice. My husband complained. About his Victoria songe as it was stale! My son’s jacket potato with chilli beef, very small portion of chilli… very disappointing. The prices have gone up and the portion size has gone way down. Won’t be eating here again.
It was a very nice place and I highly recommend! However the carrot cake was very dry and had very little icing which I found disappointing
Went for lunch with a friend. Used to visit a lot but a few years ago the prices started to creep up and felt other places offered better coffee and more imaginative food options at more reasonable prices. After my recent visit, this opinion hasn’t changed. The menu is very expensive now. £10 for a prawn sandwich. I opted for scrambled egg and smoked salmon muffin. Again £10. More expensive than other venues we visit for breakfast in nicer surroundings. I’m not sure how the eggs were cooked but the whites and yolk were quite separate, almost like mashed boiled egg, rather than a creamy scramble. Smoke salmon did have a nice flavour. It came with a few lettuce leaves and seeds as garnish. Frankly a bit of a waste as no flavour or nutritional value. Coffee latte didn’t have a lot of flavour. As Bury St Edmunds has so many good eating options I’m afraid I won’t be going back anytime soon.
On the very few occasions I have visited this coffee shop, I have been shocked and horrified at the cost of a coffee. Served in a tiny cup and over £3.00 is ridiculous !! I expect a MUG of coffee for this price ! Staff not always friendly, with some clearly acting like they would rather be elsewhere. Shame because it’s nice and clean but sadly lacking finesse and atmosphere.
Excellent menu, good prices, staff are friendly and courteous, really enjoy calling in for lunch or a mid afternoon cake
