I have dined at Japanese Village many times and I’m different locations and it’s always a delightful experience. I always get the lobster and A5 Wagyu with the dinner package. The food is always perfect and service is always amazing. Love it! View all feedback.
What Dave Kutinsky doesn't like about Japanese Village:
The Cook was excellent, the place was very noisy, you couldn't talk. Our waitress came by and took our drink and food orders and that was it. If you wanted a drink or anything you had to flag her down and ask. At the end of the meal, in most all restaurants, the waitress would come and ask if anyone would like dessert. Here she came by and asked if we would like the bill now. We were a group of 15, if that matters. View all feedback.
Food was great, our server was not ! she slammed everything down had no patience, had to ask for water multiple times. Had to track down other servers. For a place with a high bill price you would think they would work on services.... did not feel welcome. Food is always decent. Zero show was performed
Everything would be fine, if not the last moment with a TIP. I gave 25 Ca (cash) and I think it's a good tip. In response to this, the waiter canceled the payment, apologized and ran away. After her return, she informed me that everything was already included in my payment and I don't have to worry about tips. As it turned out, they took 50 CA tips from me, it felt like they brazenly robbed me. Watch for this moment, do not let yourself be robbed! Everyone wants money ?, but the tip should be left to the client's choice!
I 've been to the Japanese Village in Calgary and they are run very much the same of course. I did find this one was less showy but it was very well designed. The chef didn 't work very hard to make a show out of cooking. He didn 't do the fire volcano or anything at all with eggs. I honestly think they streamline things to get people in and out pretty quick, which is kind of understandable considering the location. It was very hot in the restaurant and so loud. It was almost impossible to hear what the server and cook were saying. They have a good menu with chicken and beef. If you 've ever wanted to try wagyu this is a good place. I had the New York strip and it was pretty good and cooked how I wanted. They do cook the veggies first which you get with white rice and by the time your meat is ready the veggies are pretty much cold. The service was excellent and so friendly. We did show up at peak time with no reservation and they sat us right away which was amazing. The included soup was weird, eggy and jellyish. The drinks were expensive but tasty. They asked twice if we were celebrating and my son 's bday was last week and they still sang him a song and brought ice cream, which was so nice!
Be honest, This one star only for our cook who has zero interest to entertain the table. He just want to finish his job and get out of there. Most of time he just talk to himself and we could not understand what he was saying.I checked the rest of the table all got great cook with amazing entertainment. I’m so jealous.Spoke to the manager about this situation and they respond very “by the book” . Apologize, listen and done. I know it’s a busy place but I hope everyone behave more like human being rather than just like robot.Server was great, she handled even better than the manger. ?
