This is a top notch sushi restaurant during the week but on weekends this is an amazing Ramen restaurant. They started with just a Saturday lunch for Ramen but it was so popular they had to add more times to get it. The sushi menu is not available during the weekend so it can lead to problems if you have different cravings based on what they offer. The wait is definitely worth it for the Ramen. What Theresa Schuppe doesn't like about Yuzen Japanese Restaurant:
A small local Japanese restaurant located in a strip mall just off the St. Albert trail with ample parking scarcely decorated in a very basic venue. A young energetic couple with excellent service but so so quality and freshness of the food and not so cheap prices for the product presented. The sashimi tasted somewhat fishy, the specially ordered mackerel definitely not fresh and up to par. Some of the signature roll... View all feedback.

Great, fresh, delicious Japanese food. The food takes a bit longer than average to arrive at your table but it's worth the wait.
We dropped with a business colleague from Japan and he pronounced that it was as good as you would find in Japan. Service was good and the food was also tasty. The gyoza were tasty.
I came with a large group of friends so we reserved our seats ahead of time which was lucky because they were having a busy night. The place seats about 30 so it could be a wait if you don't get there before 6pm. Yuzen has ramen on weekends and a sushi and bento boxes weekdays and nights. The ramen is quite good and the only spot in St. Albert that offers it traditional style. We came on a sushi night. We shared tempura, gyoza, beef tataki, california rolls, avo-temp rolls, BC rolls, chicken teriyaki bento with sashimi, beef bento with sushi, teriyaki beef dinner, and miso fish fillet. Quite the feast. The staff is very friendly and the portions are decent. I dare say this is the best sushi offered in St. Albert but I'm always open to trying new sushi spots.

The sashimi tasted somewhat fishy, the specially ordered mackerel definitely not fresh and up to par. Some of the signature rolls were also not fresh and not great. Hopefully the owners will improve their quality in the future and adjust some of their menu prices as well.
