Campbells Restaurant - St. Albert

Although I can't say there is ambiance , I have been to the lunch buffet a couple of times in the last month and the food is exceptional. Definitely value for your money. The cook is very good with buffet items from perogies

With the new ownership in place , the restaurant looks much better with new lights and a new paint job. The new owner was also very friendly. We always like Campbell because of their generous /big entree portions which made this diner popular and what it was known for . Unfortunately, since the change overall, we now found the entrees smaller than what we were used too. The food was also just medicore and did not stand out like before.

3 of us went here for we had a groupon, The service was good, the food was ok but nothing special., Fish was overcooked, veal cutlets were good, clean and quiet. There is a lounge next door that is busier. Menu has lots to chose from.

The new owners are cooking up some tasty food in this restaurant including a buffet on certain days that is fresh, good quality, delicious, and affordable.There is no doubt the new chef and owners know how to cook! The restaurant was re-painted and tidied up and looks much brighter and pleasant. The owner is friendly and accommodating and obviously appreciates his customers.They are coming out with a new menu of their own shortly and we are looking forward to it. Greatly improved over the old restaurant!

Before I start, if I could give this restaurant a 0 or negative number I would. I used a groupon to eat at this place today. Usually most of the restaurants listed have decent to good meals. I have had the luck to eat at literally thousands of restaurants in my life, form the highest rated, to more hole-in-the wall places than I can count.I can honesty say the meal I was given was in the worst 5 of my life.I entered the restaurant today, a Wednesday at just after 2 PM. There was one other customer that was finishing his meal. He was arguing with the lady server, so I assume he was not too happy.I sat and ordered one of my favorites, stuffed mushrooms to start. I then waited 1/2 an hour to be asked what else I would like. I was hoping for a small hamburger steak with lots of onions, mashed potatoes, and lots of gravy. UH UH. Could not do it. I ended up ordering a veal cutlet the same way. About 10 minutes later I received a typical bowl which would hold caps, or escargot, etc. What was in it was microwaved frozen meatballs with a very little amount of marble cheese on top. While waiting to explain, I tried one, and it was disgusting. When I managed to contact the lady at the front, she said her regular cook was hurt, and she would send out something else. I explained there was nothing else I wanted, but about 15 minutes later I got 6 VERY over-fried mozza sticks, also from a box for sure. I tried one and left the rest. About 10 minutes later I received my meal. It was not a veal cutlet, but a frozen chicken cutlet re-heated in a microwave. No idea what happened to the fried onions I ordered with it, and the mashed potatoes were just reheated, in the nuke, as they were still cold in the middle. The gravy tasted like heated up bullion cubes, and was so salty, I could not eat it.I left my groupon with them and left. I am told this is new ownership, so, people beware. This place is terrible.
