Ye Olde Fighting Cocks - St Albans

I've been to this restaurant both before its closure and after it reopened, and I'm really glad to see it thriving after the pandemic. The food is quite good, although the chef might want to use a little less salt in the dishes. The staff is very friendly, and the location in the park is fantastic. The atmosphere is cozy, and dining outside in the summer is a true pleasure. I absolutely love this place!

I had a great experience at this lovely pub with a charming beer garden. I wanted to visit since it claims to be the oldest pub in England, and it certainly didn't disappoint. When I went on a Sunday, it wasn't very crowded, so there were still seats available outside, though the inside was full. The outdoor area has some shaded sections in case it rains, which is a nice touch. I chose the pork roast, and it was delicious. The service was prompt, and the staff were friendly.

**Cons:** Quite pricey (almost London prices—why?). The food was just average; the pork in the Sunday roast was a bit tough, and the grilled prawns lacked flavor. The only dish I truly enjoyed was the hummus and chips. The garlic bread could use more garlic flavor. Overall, I'd rate it a 6.5/10.

We enjoyed a lovely sunny evening in the garden. The atmosphere was great, and the staff were very attentive without being intrusive—well done! I tried a pizza, which was delicious. Definitely worth a visit, although it can get quite busy.

I had a fantastic weekend trip with my wife. The food and service were exceptional. We would definitely choose to stay here again. One suggestion: the restrooms near the bar could use some updating.
