Curry Leaf - St Albans

I pre-ordered my food for delivery at 7:00 PM, paid through the app, and received a text at the delivery time saying they couldn't fulfill the order. I was told I would be refunded in 5-7 days. I had to find another meal and pay an additional £30 while waiting for the refund. They attempted to call, but the phone call was disconnected.

I ordered the standard option for two people at this restaurant, which included poppadoms, salad, mince sauce, raita, naan bread, pilau rice, Bombay aloo, a generic mild chicken curry, and a chicken madras. The extras such as poppadoms and naan were good, the salad, raita, pilau, and Bombay aloo were standard. The mild chicken curry tasted like something from the 1980s school cafeteria, lacking in flavor. The chicken madras was similar, but with added chili powder for heat. Overall, this restaurant would be a suitable choice for a casual meal with friends, but it falls short of providing an authentic subcontinental dining experience.

After our beloved restaurant Curry shut down in St. Albans, we began searching for a new place to dine. We decided to try a new restaurant based on just one dish (Chef's Special) and we were pleasantly surprised. The delivery was prompt and the food was delicious. We plan on trying more dishes in the coming weeks, hoping they will be just as tasty.

We have been using Curry Leaf for years but tonight had nothing but hassle. Out order took an hour and 50 minutes to then arrive luke warm. I then phoned to advise them and was told there's nothing they can do as it's the cold weather! The guy on the phone clearly couldn't be bothered to work tonight and had no customer service skills what so ever. Will not be using them again.

They feel slightly upset when we visit other curry houses, as they are never as delicious as curry leaf. a place could give them a big curry, but then the rice won't be so beautiful. or another one they might get a nice naan, but the curry will be slandered. with the curry leaf there is no compromise – everything is consistently excellent – and we buy our curries for three years from here. loyal fans!
