Cheong Chinese - St Albans

Earlier we have cheong's Chinese farewell regularly before the pandemic. thought we would try them tonight, had meal for 2, well cooked, the huh could not eat hard, rice dirty brown color. never again.

I usually order Chinese food every week from various places, but I made the mistake of trying this restaurant again. It was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The Chicken Chow Mein lacked flavor and tasted like it was missing something. The Sweet and Sour Hong Kong dish had no sauce at all. It was as if I was eating plain, overcooked meat. This is by far the worst Chinese restaurant in Britain. I have avoided it for the past six years, but my son went there without knowing. All the other Chinese restaurants in St Albans are excellent. This place really needs to hire a new chef and improve their portion sizes.

Cheong Chinese is a 15-minute walk from my home, making it a convenient option for Chinese takeout. However, when I entered the restaurant, there was no one at the counter to greet me, which was disappointing. I had to ring the bell for service, and when a young girl finally appeared, she didn't provide a very welcoming experience. After taking my order, she disappeared into the back of the shop and didn't reappear until the next customer rang the bell. The food arrived quickly and was well-packaged in a secure plastic bag (which came at an additional cost), but there was no option to customize the order. The food itself was delicious, with generous portions and a lovely aroma. The presentation of the takeout meal was also impressive. If I were just judging them based on the food, I would give them a good review. However, considering the overall experience, I would have to rate them poorly, which is unfortunate.

It is only a mile from my parent house so decided to give this instead of somewhere further away. I had too much experience with cold food through deliveroo, but all around dictated a fast food supply. it was a pleasant surprise, nicely cooked cod and chips and delivered in about 25 minutes. it felt a bit overpriced.

Waited about an hour and a half for delivery. Came in a cab, freezing cold. Rang them to complain, they said they’re busy. Asked if that’s acceptable, they hung up. Avoid, terrible customer service.
