Umai Sushi and Grill - Squamish

I ordered Tempura U-don and Green Dragon Roll for me and my kid thinking it will be small serving. Oh but what a pleasant surprise, serving was huge. The Tempura on that Tempura U-don was on the side which was perfect as I wasn't really excited about having a Tempura half way dipped in the U-don! It was delicious and tasted fresh not frozen. We were not even able to finish the U-don as we were full already. The Green Dragon Roll too was so delicious. I recommend not ordering too much when you get there because you might end up wasting it. The wait for food is not long, so you can always order more if you feel you have to. I highly recommend this restaurant.

After hiking we were hungry and wanted to relax in a cozy little spot and enjoy good food. This place is right on. Serving time improved greatly since our last visit. My wife enjoyed her teriyaki salmon dish - just the right size for her and full of flavour. I ate a plate of assorted sushi - very enjoyable. The Miso soup is better here than the other places. Our little salad was good. The hot green tea hit the spot perfect after an afternoon outside and to finish it off with a Orange for desert is a nice touch the establishment does. Thank you

As a group of four we went the end of july. Everything that could go wrong, did! Started with the wrong drinks, then we ordered starters and sashimi. Starters were good. Sashimi was fine but we ordered sockeye salmon sashimi and paid more for it, what arrived was definitely Atlantic (farmed) salmon, way to rip people off! So we go to order our main dinner of rolls and get told " no rice ". Seriously? What sushi place runs out of rice? We are pretty sure they knew this when we sat down, but didn't bother to tell us. We then noticed lots of rolls coming out of the kitchen going to the group behind us that arrived after us. By then we had had enough, our buddy ran over and ordered pizza hut so we at least had some food. This place is a joke, rude service, dishonest and way over priced!

Five star for effort! We are sushi snobs...we've have been to all the sushi restaurants in Squamish/whistler. We order 90% sashimi. Umai is new, off the beaten path and charming. They really knew their cuts (for thinner/thick pieces) and were flexible/observant to customers (we had an allergy at our table.)

Holy awesome sushi. So impressed with the service and the food. Wow. The black dragon and house roll are simply unreal. You can't go wrong.
