The Washburne Café - Springfield

The Washburne is an excellent choice for a morning coffee and a delightful treat. They serve full meals for both breakfast and lunch, and judging by the smiles on the customers' faces, the food must be delicious. My breakfast treat was really enjoyable, with a nice hint of banana that perfectly complemented the chocolate chips. It was more substantial than a cookie but still too cookie-like to be classified as sweet bread. The seating options include tables, a bar, and a cozy living room-style area. Despite the lively atmosphere of the busy mid-morning crowd, I found it quite comfortable. I'll definitely be returning!

The food and coffee were outstanding, and the ambiance of the place is really nice. However, I have to say that it was quite smoky inside. When I glanced into the kitchen, I noticed there was no hood system above the ovens, stove, or flat top. I can imagine that ventilation might be fine in the summer, but it was pretty cold today, and I left smelling like I'd been standing by a deep fryer. Everything else was fantastic, though. I really hope they’re planning on upgrading the ventilation soon.

I gave this place 3 stars, but let me explain. It's a great spot with fantastic coffee and really good food. However, the wait times and the presence of flies were quite off-putting. For a place that's always busy, it seems surprising that they only have one person making drinks. I appreciate that the food is made fresh, but waiting half an hour for a breakfast sandwich makes me question whether they're trying to do too much given their kitchen size. Additionally, I've noticed an overwhelming number of flies during my visits, which is concerning for a café. This location has incredible potential, and they should think about upgrading their equipment to match their offerings. It would also help to add one or two more bug catchers near the doors. I encourage you to try this place, but only if you’re not in a hurry.

Really nice coffee shop and Cafe with indoor and outdoor/sidewalk seating. Excellent coffee!! Some of the best coffee drinks I've encountered in the Eugene/Springfield area. Quite a few breakfast and lunch items on the menu, as well as, some nicelooking sweet and or savory pastries. Great baristas offering fast and friendly service.

Their espresso drinks are a delight, the atmosphere is cozy and bright, with a variety of great seating options. Staff were kind, attentive to restocking and cleaning the entire FOH, and had friendly conversations with me. I had the washburne breakfastsandwich on a biscuit, and it was fluffy, fresh, and you could tell a lot of attention went into the flavors and cooking of thepork. I'm excited to be coming back again and again!
