Contribute FeedbackGeorge's Restaurant has garnered a reputation as a comfort food haven in Springfield, perfect for families and travelers alike. Patrons have praised the friendly and attentive staff, particularly highlighting the exceptional service from one waitress. Many have enjoyed generous portion sizes and affordable prices, especially at breakfast, where offerings like biscuits and gravy and omelets shine. While some diners experienced inconsistencies in food quality and service, the overall sentiment leans positive. With a cozy atmosphere and hearty meals, George's is worth a visit for anyone exploring the area, particularly after a day at Bass Pro World.
We typically dine at Karney Cafe multiple times a week, but a few weeks ago we decided to give George's a try. The portion sizes are generous and the prices are very reasonable. We ended up taking home more than half of our breakfast because the servings were so large. The biscuits and gravy were absolutely delicious. Despite the service not being excellent, the restaurant was very busy. We have returned to George's several times since and have never had a bad meal. The best part is that our bill was significantly lower than what we usually pay at other places. We highly recommend giving George's a try - we love it!
George's skillet is definitely one of the best places for breakfast around. Despite living over an hour away, I make the trip down here a few times a month. The staff is incredibly friendly, and even though they may be short staffed, you wouldn't be able to tell. The food comes out hot and quick. I always order the same thing and it's consistently delicious. I would give it 6 stars if I could.
The restaurant experience was decent. The waitress was attentive and the portions of the western omelet were generous. The hash browns could use a change of grease, but they had a nice browning. The omelet was large but somewhat lacking in flavor. The highlight of the meal was the biscuit and gravy, which was very tasty. The price was a bit high for me, but perhaps average for current times.
Update: Service was fantastic. The server went way above and beyond. I've been to George's many, many times and have never had a problem. But on this date I ordered an omelet that just was bad. It didn't meet my expectations from previous visits.Historically I've had wonderful food there. I've amended my rating from 3 stars to four stars because they do deserve a higherrating than I gave.
My wife ordered the small order of biscuits and suasage gravy, and loved it. She said she would've ordered the medium size if she'd known it was that good. I got the burrito omelet, and it was really good! Our server was very on the ball, which means, really good. We really enjoyed our breakfast here, and want to try lunch and dinner next. UPDATE: We stopped for dinner todayand my wife got the meatloaf, and I got the taco salad. My wife didn't like all the green peppers in the meatloaf, and the tacosalad was full of tortilla chips to make it look huge. Too many tortilla chips. Dinner was 4 stars. Breakfast is great here, butdinner needs some improvements.
