Review for the breakfast. We ate here 2 mornings. It is your average diner breakfast done well. Ambiance is great sort of old diner meets log cabin. If you're staying at the Pioneer Lodge hotel, this is a great start to your day. Got some snark from one waiter who was apparently tired of tourists. Always rubs me the wrong way when you're in a location that has absolutely no other industry than tourism. A snobby Paris... View all feedback.
What Margaret R doesn't like about The Historic Pioneer:
We were told that Pioneer had good breakfast food. I disagree. nice service eggs were rubbery and tasted odd friend felt that the hash browns potatoes had an odd taste bacon had too much of the fatty part View all feedback.
I just had what has been the worst breakfast of my life. I'm 64 and can't recall a worse restaurant breakfast. I have been to this restaurant numerous times over the years but not in the past 5 years. Things have sure changed. I ordered the pork chop and egg breakfast. The eggs were ordered over medium but came out with broken yolks and over hard. The hash browns were wonderfully saturated with grease all the way through. The pork chops were unrecognizable as pork chops and were tough, stringy, dry and totally tasteless. I brought them home but when I put them in my dog's dish she sniffed at them and refused to eat. I have always given restaurants the benefit of the doubt but this one was just too much. Never again. There are too many good restaurants in Springdale to ever go to the Pioneer Lodge Restaurant again. 10-30-16 The last few times I have passed this restaurant it has been closed. Hopefully, they will be able to reopen with a better kitchen and wait staff.
I could seriously lambaste this place. Really. I could. I mean, it's my job as a Yelper to warn people or to entice people into an establishment correct? So why do I feel bad? Probably because the service was nice. Probably because I had high hopes for this place that boasted a 4 star TripAdvisor sticker (by the way I think the sticker is for the adjoining hotel, NOT the restaurant). But, I'm going to put it out there anyway... First off we walked in and the place was empty. Warning bells already. I looked at the menu presented next to the hostess stand I wanted to immediately run away. But my husband lingered. I wasn't sure what to do as I checked out the Yelp reviews I began to get cold sweats OH NO! But here came the server to seat us. SIGH. I'm in it to win it now. Beginners, my husband and I both ordered the Top Sirloin, which came with a salad bar for an additional $2.99. BUT there was no salad bar, so the waitress said she would bring out our salads instead. OK. So, we sit there and then a guy server comes up and explains to us that Fridays and Saturdays they have a Prime Rib Special, which is the same prices as the top sirloin and much better. We opt for the Prime Rib, both of us order it Medium (as a prime rib should be anyway). Out come our salads. I'm not even going to talk about it. Just awful. Period. Out come our entrees. Do I really have to describe this plate? First off my baked potato came out wrapped in tinfoil, which I hate, because that means this tinfoil that was handled by someone in the kitchen is now on my plate touching the rest of my food. Secondly stuffed INSIDE my baked potato are two packets of butter. I cannot even begin to explain how GROSS that is. Butter packets are handled by servers with bare hands ALL THE TIME and you put it IN my potato? UGH. I took them out and scraped the first layer of potato out where the packets had been touching. Next, there was a variety of vegetables all chopped up haphazardly on the plate with a very, very odd mix of spices. Spices that did not go with the veggie medley. I get it, you're trying to zing up the vegetables, but honestly, just a nice side of broccoli would have been better. And the most disappointing, horrendous prime rib I have EVER been served in my entire life. The server said this prime rib was amazing. I don't think he has ever had a normal prime rib. It was the thinnest cut of prime rib I've ever seen, which is probably why the damn thing was WELL DONE. I kid you not. This prime rib was brown through and through. And what restaurant in their right mind puts out a brown/well done PRIME RIB? CRAZY TOWN HERE PEOPLE. At this point I just wanted to vamoose, so I ate what I could of my well done prime rib. I asked for some sour cream for my overly cooked, tainted baked potato. I had half a mind to ask for au jus because they didn't provide any AGAIN, CRAZY TOWN, who serves prime rib without au jus? We paid our bill and hurried out, never to return again. The only good part of this entire thing is, we had paid using money my parents had sent us for our anniversary present. So at least this horrible meal wasn't on me. The food is bad. The prices are WAY too high for what you're getting. Go somewhere else in Springdale, ANYWHERE else for food.

Overpriced for food with zero love. My beef sandwitch was half fat, The onion rings had a thick layer of breading and were very greasy even for me, and I love greasy food. Overall a total rip off, Go to Oscars cafe if you want great food worth the price, same price as here. The owner is a total creep!
