Oh my goodness! This place was delicious! We visited during the latter part of breakfast and everything we tried was amazing. I started with the candied bacon as an appetizer, followed by an incredible grilled cheese. The dishes were simple yet executed perfectly. We absolutely loved it and have now discovered our new favorite breakfast spot in the area! View all feedback.
What Mariah Lang dislikes about Darlene's Breakfast Cafe:
We do not recommend this restaurant. While it may be cute, the food is very disappointing. The "home fries" are actually just frozen hash browns from Walmart that were not cooked properly. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito, which was worse than ones he has had from a gas station. It was served with a side salad that was simply a pile of spring mix with a cup of dressing on the side. This is not a proper salad... View all feedback.

This place was really good. Service was great despite it being pretty busy... I only saw 2 servers but they were running their butts off... my coffee was fresh and always topped off. My first choice was obviously a favorite (chicken salad) because it was out, but I understood because we came really close to closing. I ended up getting this grilled cheese, which sounds simple enough, but it was amazing! So tasty! We had candied bacon for an appetizer and it was absolutely perfect. We also got Ryan's Breakfast Plate (biscuits and gravy) and a side pancakes. We will definitely be back, and early next time so I can try that chicken salad!
DO NOT GO HERE!! My husband and I were told to sit down and for 15 minutes not one staff member came to our table. The restaurant was not packed. A few moments after we walked in a group of ladies came in and immediately were attended to. Horrible staff.
Really cute place with ehh breakfast. Wasn 't the best, wasn 't the worst. Located in, The district on 46, the location is really great with lots of cool/cute shops around. My family of four (my wife and I, 2yo, and 8 month old) went on a Friday morning around 11:00ish. Completely empty. While we were there, we few couples had walked in. Waiter was really nice. We ordered the Ryan 's breakfast, a chocolate chip pancake, and two black coffees. The Ryan 's breakfast was a biscuit with eggs and bacon on top, covered in gravy. We got the gravy on the side. When it had come out, it wasn 't hot. Kinda warm but didn 't bother telling because we were hungry. Again, wasn 't the best, wasn 't the worst. The pancake was better. I liked the texture was a little like a funnel cake. Had some crispiness to it but not too much. The coffee was ehh. We drink it black so taste really matters lol. Was a little too dark for us. Overall, the experience was okay. Probably wouldn 't come back unless friends were asking us to join them.
Had the biscuits n gravy, half order. Comes with two eggs and meat. Service was good. Now the food review. Biscuit was unremarkable, doughy. Flat, with all the great biscuits available yo buy.. why these lame type? Bacon- was undercooked, chewy not crispy at all. Good tasting bacon just needed more time on the grill. Gravy- was good, thick enough. With a good biscuit it would of been good. Eggs- cooked as ordered, so good. On table no salt n pepper, nor napkins- so you have to ask for them. I would not order this breakfast again. But would try other dishes. Oh the place is noisy with only half full. So your conversation will needed to be louder to hear each other.
After seeing the reviews I'm surprised. We had an awesome server (her first week), and our food came out in 15min. It was such a cute place. We will definitely be back!
Tucked away in a charming locale, Darlene's has generated varied reactions from diners. While the atmosphere boasts a delightful charm, many have found the food quality lacking, often describing menu items as lacking freshness and flavor. The breakfast burrito stands out positively, but other dishes like biscuits and gravy fall short of expectations. Service issues persist, with some patrons noting long waits and disorganization. Yet, not all experiences are negative; certain visits highlight excellent service and tasty dishes like grilled cheese and candied bacon. With effort, Darlene's has the potential to elevate its offerings and create a memorable dining experience.
