What Shawn J dislikes about Granny Dee's Kitchen:
I stopped by after church, and my $60 was a total waste! The BBQ was not fresh and was drenched in way too much sauce, likely to cover up the fact that the meat was old. I've never, and I mean never, ordered an oxtail plate for $30 and received such a small portion! They barely gave me any rice, and I had to hunt for the gravy. The mac and cheese was basic, and the candied yams were nothing special. The service was extremely slow, and they even had signs warning about the delays. I don’t mind waiting if the food is worth it, but this was not! The cake, potato salad, and oxtails were decent, but the baked beans were straight out of a can. Honestly, don’t waste your time or money!
Granny Dee’s was tasty. We had ox tails, black eyed peas, cornbread, cabbage and greens. Good atmosphere. Short wait went Friday at 1 PM.Food: 4/5

I ordered over $80 worth of food and was very disappointed. The flavors were lacking, and the veggie plate was not substantial at all. The macaroni was dry, the cabbage had no flavor and was tough, and while the yams were decent, I won’t be returning. The cornbread was also dry and crumbled rather than being moist. For my first experience, it definitely didn’t meet my expectations. The price is pretty steep for the amount of food you get, but oh well?
