Decent Italian food, a little different from the east coast. The minestrone soup was more like beef vegetable. The lasagna was very good. The amaretto ice cream was delicious. The service from Cassie was very good. View all feedback.
What Nicholas Hauck doesn't like about Luigi's Italian Restaurant:
Our Uber driver told us this place was the best Italian food......umm maybe it was an off night for them or me. Because the sauce was not Alfredo on my dish and it was so overpowering in the broccoli that I just picked at it and ate some of the shrimp and mushrooms out of it. They didn't have angel hair pasta or anything on the lighter side with pesto to my liking and the prices.....Too expensive for the way it taste... View all feedback.
Luigi's is an unbelievable Italian restaurant; it's not even at the corner. The entrance is inconvenient; friendly level. The decor is not pretentious. So, what's the big deal?! The food and service was TRADITIONAL; anticipation was unexpected; still this dinner was wonderful. Part of the evening success was my waiter, Elijah; I was confused because I had expected to simply order a simple spaghetti'n meatballs dinner with delicious sauce, meatballs and noodles. I had forgotten that this is a real Italian food with a variety of genuine Italian options. Options that have confused me now. Elijah was able to describe each of my various preliminary decisions in detail not only of ingredients, but character and taking into account my answers. He has catalogued my feedback and made some suggestions. Before this consultation, I would have opted for a simple pasta or lasagna or scampi. I ordered the Sardinia Old Fashioned Spaghetti; fabulous choice! Bacon, onions, garlic and wine sautes with ground pork and left sausage, shimmered in marinara sauce. When served, the first thing that meets you, the wonderful bouquet is not only winey, but much more with all the ingredients that were mentioned earlier. What a knock! Then I noticed that the spaghetti noodles were tasty and perfectly cooked in their own right; you know how rarely THAT noodles are required with this much authenticity (boiled and PROPERLY cooked. (You can cook many dinners with less noodles and never understand why the wonderful sauce does not shine. Bottom line this is an old-fashioned, unpretentious, family-style Italian restaurant. Unforeseen means, do not need to slick... I read some of the less luminous reviews; for those who come here to reconfigure this gem... eat your heart.
This business is housed in the Salvation Army building built in 1921 and is included in the National Register of Historic Sites in 2000.
Absolutely amazing experience. Wonderful staff, who was very attentive and friendly, food that left you speechless, and a cozy, comfortable atmosphere. Huckleberry cheesecake will really knock off your socks.
Food is excellent, but they tried to reject the service early at 9:28 if they were to be open until 10 a.m. Not good customer service told us kitchen closed at 9:28 I told him you closed at 10 so they decided to put us. There were two people in the bar. The waitress with glasses seemed really nice and helpful to others as if we were an inconvenience to her. Not comforting
