Came here with a group of ten and the restaurant had plenty of space to hold larger groups. There's several vegetarian and vegan options available. If you do want to make it vegan, make sure they omit the oyster sauce that is in some of their dishes. I had the Szechuan Tofu (minus the oyster sauce) and the group got the Crispy Spicy Tofu to share. The Crispy Spicy Tofu comes with sautéed tofu, onions, peppers with a side of chili sauce. The Szechuan was spicy saucy goodness with loads of veggies and tofu. I would get either dish again. The staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. The restaurant itself was bright, spacious, and clean. The prices are reasonable, especially with the quantity and quality that is served. Everyone in our group was very satisfied and full after our visit. This place will definitely be in our rotation when going out. #Veganuary
They say it’s made of “coffee milk” idk what that is, but they say it’s definitely dairy-free every time I ask them so I am pretty sure it’s vegan.
If you have not been here yet you are missing out! They have boba with coconut milk and lots of vegan options. You can adjust the spice level and the tofu is great! The milk with coconut milk is super creamy and they can adjust sweetness level. The cashiers are really knowledgeable and are happy to answer questions and make substitutions. The ambiance is very nice and you can sit in a booth or at a table. The servings are large and you can order one for two people.
I have only had the take out, but the place is always super clean. The employees are very nice. The food is good. The shrimp fried rice is the very best in town. Maybe the best I've ever had. But the Sesame Chicken wasn't fabulous. The Egg Flower Soup gets rave reviews, as does the Walnut Shrimp. Again, the best I've ever had. Extra large shrimp perfectly cooked in a tempura batter. Crispy delightful bites coupled with a light flavorful sauce, that covered the shrimp, the incredible walnuts and crisp rice noodles. Exceptional. BBQ Pork was extremely dry. We have had many wonderful dining experiences at the Black Straw previously. Tonight wasn’t our typical experience. The food didn’t come out hot, just warm. Our server wasn’t attentive. She took our order, brought our food and didn’t check in on us or fill our water. The next contact was to bring us containers and our check. Disappointed in our service this time.
